Shimon, I have v15g installed...I'm also got the v10 of Agendus installed....in 2Day my Trips are showing up as garble goop. Just letters & symbols if I tap it opens a box filled with nothing but garble, but if I tap to open then all my info is there in Agendus the way it is suppose to be....just wondering if this is a 2day problem or Agendus...I will be reporting it over on their forums too. Thanks

Another oddity is there is a small tick mark or arrow over the signal strength bars. It is not an active icon so I wonder what it means?

Is that there in the Phone app as well? a small black triangle? That would be the GPRS indication ...

No, it does not appear in the Phone app. And the GPRS indicator is two small green arrows in both the Phone app and on the 2day line. When I connect to GPRS, the small black triangle is replaced completely by the two small green arrows. I am on T-Mobile with a GSM unlocked 650.

The two green arrows show that you are connected to GPRS. The black triangle indicates that you are in the area where GPRS is available.

Post a screen capture to show us what you are seeing ...

I don't have a screen capture app - perhaps you could suggest a good one.

The triangle is located over the last two signal bars to the right and seems to take up the space where those bars would otherwise extend upwards to show a full signal.

To my knowledge, for either T-Mobile or Cingular there are no service areas where GPRS is not available - if you got GSM, you got GPRS. Perhaps the triangle makes sense for Verizon Treos to indicate the availability of 1X or EVDO data service but not for GSM. It really doesn't bother to me, I just didn't want to "miss" a feature of 2day.

Snap is a popular and free screen capture utility.

It does sound like the GPRS/EDGE indicator from your description.

Yep, you nailed it! Is is the GPRS/EDGE indicator when in range as described in the manual on page 39. Perhaps on Cingular you can have GSM without GPRS but it is not true for T-Mobile.

What was throwing me was that I was using an older version of 2day and recently upgraded to 1.31bg. The triangle was not present in the older version and appeared when I upgraded so I thought I was missing something.

Thanks for the responses and the help and I'll get a copy of Snap.

    Frank

Edit: The thing that is really interesting that I forgot is that the triangle appears ONLY on the 2day line - absolutely nowhere else in any other app that displays the signal bars like Phone, Blazer, Snappermail, etc.!! So I am afraid 2day is causing it to appear.

    Hi all,

Regarding the black triangle - true - the reason it only shows in 2day (in later versions) is I have added the code to draw the radio & battery indocators myself.

Reason - the built-in indicators are non-transparent, so they would appear on an ugly white rectangle backgound, even on full screen background skins (images). I was not able to replace the Bluetooth indicator the same way, so as you can probably see - it does have that background.
The black triangle is shown when the system reports it has GPRS/EDGE capability (as indicated above), and I guess it does for your carrier. I could not find a way to decide not to show it.

Regarding the alarm thing - 2day indeed relies on the built-in calendar (ir Datebook5 or Agendus) to handle alarms.

Since 2day is NOT designed to REPLACE those applications (would require tons of development work - and there is only me...), but rather enhance/complement them - I prefer to rely on them to do this sort of stuff - executing the alarms, playing various tones (incl. MP3, midi...) and so...

I am aware of the issue with clattering of the display, and am thinking of handling this in three stages:

    1. Current implementation - it shows up as a meeting.

    2. Hide this type of meetings (detect them by the first character of the text description, or by hiding a flag at the notes field) in 2day's view/s.
(will not hide it in Calendar, Datebook5, Agendus).
When I do that, I will add a plugin line (or an icon) for "Pending alarms", so that you know you have one set.

    3. Implement a new "Alarm/Reminder" utility to handle this outside of the Calendar database. This might evolve to a full product, with MP3,midi... support, plugin support for 2day, voice/sketch memos, etc.
(BTW - I already have apps for the original Palm ADDRESS button and CALENDAR button, that app will add a MEMO button...)

    Shimon,

On your point #2 above (clutter): Even if you hide it in 2day, it will show up in Datebk5 etc. The clutter I am concerned about is in Datebk5. I use it's views quite often, especially it's week view and the monthly calendar icon views. So, I'm all for your solution # 3 :-)

Thanks for clearing it up. I have no problem with it at all now that I know what it is. It will be interesting when I am roaming on Cingular back east if I have voice but no GPRS. I suppose it may be possible with old AT&T providers.

    Thanks

I just installed the new version and I can't see in the 2day screen the location of the appointments (I am using the default PIM of the Treo 650). I tought that finally could be an attempt to see description an location in two rows, but it is nor the case.
    Thanks for your help.

Shimon: Is there still a reason to limit the number of icons on the info line to 4 per line? (Prefs > Plugins > Info line/s). I have maxed out mine, but still have room for one or two more (on one line).

Yes, on a Treo 650. I understand why this is for a lowres device like the 600, but isn't there a way to detect which device 2Day is running on and give 650 owners more screen estate options?
