Yes your solution displays the week view almost exactly as I would want it. I would still want the top selection bar to be Sunday through Saturday instead of Monday through Sunday. However this breaks all of the other calendar views including the default month views which is the source of the problem when I did have it set up that way. I got tired of accidently selecting Tuesday instead of Monday when using the small calendar because it doesn't match any other calendar I'm looking at. Wall calendar, outlook, google, etc.

Using that global setting pretty much ruins the treo's views for every other program that utlizes a calendar for me. Therefore it isn't an option.

I'm assuming it is just the difference between the Israeli weekend system (Friday/Saturday) vs the traditional Christian/Eastern Asia weekend system (Saturday/Sunday).

Afraid I still dont get what the problem is.
When I set the system setting to "week starts at: Monday", ALL the calendar views - both in 2day and the builtin Calendar app - have a week showing from Monday->Sunday. That's how I see it in Google Calendar, too.

So where is it wrong ?

I think cj just wants Sat and Sun combined on the week view instead of Fri and Sat.
Visor Deluxe->Visor Edge (Upgraded for $100.00 just by giving them the Serial # of my Visor Deluxe plus I got to keep the Deluxe. Those were the days!)-> Palm M-505->M-515->Tungsten T->Zire 72->Treo 650->->Treo 700P->Treo 755P. Plus various replacements. 8130 Pearl....Sorry

Yes. In a week view I want Saturday and Sunday combined. In a month view (I know 2Day doesn't do this other than the select date sublet) I want it to show Sunday through Saturday. This is the most common views for these two instances in the US. I do not want my month view to change from the Sunday through Saturday view.

AKA I want the weekview to look like this:
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/weekview.gif

without changing the month view from this:
    http://www.palm.com/us/images/produc..._monthview.gif

Sorry best pictures I could find to show the positions of the days. Like I said, this is the most common layout for both of these views in a calendar over here.

    Hi,

So I guess what you're asking from me is to seperate the "Week starts on" setting of 2day from that of the system ?

2day will have it's own preference for "week starts at" that will hold only in
2days "Day" & "Week" views. You will set that to "Monday", while you will set the system to start on Sunday ?

This will not confuse you ?

The current way confuses me (and others judging by comments I've seen over the past couple of months). Instead of having a separate week starts on for 2day, how about labelling it as "weekend is:" Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. I don't know if there are any users who would be interested in a Thursday/Friday which I think is the Muslim weekend.

Like I said, every other calendar program I've seen runs as I've pictured above except 2day. I'm guessing the differences are based upon regional settings which makes sense. I couldn't really care whether Sat/Sun is in the top left box or the lower right box. Either way has advantages although I don't think I've ever seen them in the top left.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Afraid due to low sales 4stocks is low on my priorities for updates.

    Sorry...

    Shimon,

    Here's my 2 cents:

I like the options that are available currently which allows me to set my calendar to start with Mon and end with Sun which reflects the Palm preference settings.

And I assume the discussion of compressing the Sat & Sun days into one box is referring to the weekly view. I don't like that idea (again unless it is optional) because I usually have a decent amount of activity on weekends as well.

    Again, just my 2 cents.

    Now I am confused again.

What's the difference between the name of the setting ?

I dont see the difference between the way 2day and the other calendar apps shows things - I see the same week view in 2day and the built-in calendar app:

    1. I have the system prefs set to "Week starts: Monday"

    2. In the built-in Calendar app, I see in all forms: M|T|W|T|F|S|S

    3. This is the same thing I see in 2day.

    4. In week view in 2day I see big squares for Monday through Friday,
Saturday & Sunday share a small square.

Isnt that what you want ?

Note: in Google calendar - if I set week start at Monday - I see the same, too.

I am not trying to shrug you off - I just dont understand your request.

    Thanks

If I understand the request being made re: week/weekend views, what is being asked is if 2Day can include a display option (APART from the Palm prefs setting) that would change the views WITHIN 2Day to begin on a Monday.

Changing the option universally with Palm's preferences screen does have the desired effect within 2Day, but unfortunately, it ALSO changes the Palm calendar's month view to begin on a Monday, which no longer matches the format of the majority of wall calendars (and if you're a visual person looking at the month format, your eyes get used to Sunday being at the far left side, Saturday at the far right, with Wed right in the middle).

Hope I haven't confused the issue further. Just trying to help
  12. #2932
mcentreville has it right. I only want the week view in 2Day displayed differently.

I want the built in calendar app to display S-M-T-W-T-F-S. (Just like it does now with the start of the work week set to Sunday as I have it now). I've tried with it set to Monday but my brain just can't translate that view well when I see 3 other calendars showing something different.

The week view (and only the week view) in 2Day I want to have Sat/Sun combined into one square like seen here:
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/weekview.gif

If datebook overlayed the 4cast data on the week view, I would just use that as it has the exact layout I want.

To sum up: I only want the option to combine Sat/Sun into a block on 2Day's week view without changing any of the other calendar views on the treo from the "week starts on Sunday".

Hopefully this time I explained it. If not, I'll try mocking up pictures for everything.

TurboTiger: I have no issues with it being an option and not default.

My weekly view of 2day looks just like this.

    Anyway,
I was confused about what was meant when referring to combining Sat and Sun in one box. I thought you meant compressing the info even more than it is.

And I understand what you're saying about the montly calendar used to "choose a date". However, IMO I would find it more confusing not to have both 2day and the monthly calendar not paired up.

Regardless, if it's an option, everyone wins.

    Good Luck

I want the monthly calendars to match. I want them displayed Sun through Saturday. Just the the default view on any new treo. (AKA the view like when week starts on Sunday). The only view that is currently non standard (at least from your typical Outlook, paper dayplanner, wall calendar, etc) is 2Day's week view in which Friday and Saturday are combined instead of Saturday and Sunday. To make 2Day display the week view in the standard way, you have to make every other view of the calendar on the treo non standard.

Maybe this will help. These are the standard views in Datebook6. This is also the standard views that I have seen in calendars.

That is all I am asking is to have the days laid out like this.

What exactly is the confusion here? I have mentioned this issue repeatedly for a long time, so this request is nothing new.

Please just make it possible in week view to see Monday- Sunday so SA/SU gets split up into the smaller boxes, and all of the week days are the same size. And yes, this should be done without messing with the system settings. A standard month view is SU-SA each week, and forcing us to make that MO-SU is equally as awkward...

The pictures in the post above nail this issue to a T... Why are you so against this, or think this would be confusing... This is a fairly standard layout for these views...

So I will add an option for WEEK view (only for week view):

"Week-view starts at:" --> three possible options:
    - Sunday.
    - Monday.
    - Same as system (default).

    Would that be ok ?

probably? I'm thinking yes. (If you want to shoot me an early beta, I can look at it this weekend. Otherwise I eagerly await its regular appearance.)

IF (I'll stress the if some more) you get complaints that the wording is confusing, you could also try:
    combine weekend days:
    Friday/Saturday
    Saturday/Sunday
    Same as system (default)

Your wording is probably better. Just offering an alternative if people get confused.
  18. #2938
    That would be great...

    Dang,

You people are rough on Shimon. I'd like 2Day to be able to ensure that I have no contact with my ex, and that 4Cast will always give accurate weather predictions. Oh and if either one can walk the dog, that would be nice to. : )

    Shimon,

I appreciate your responsiveness, but I also want to say that I love both apps in their current format. Thanks.

    i am using 2day 1.51 build 092 and have it linked with datebk6 v-6.1a,r7

i believe a change was made in datebk in which u only have to keep the resource file on ram for alrms to work if u are using datebk for alarms... in either case i have all the datebk6 files in ram and the todo alarms created in 2day are not carrying over to datebk.

    i am creating a TASK in 2day
when i click on alarm.. the check mark next to alarm is checked
when i view the created TODO (task) in 2day i see the alarm symbol on the right hand side
if i click on the todo and select open.. datebk6 opens up in the details page per my settings, and next to alarm it says "none"

in datebk, i have the option to have datebk handle alarms checked ... when i create a meeting in 2day and open it and view in datebk, it shows that it was created with an alarm... but the TODO ALARM setting doesnt seem to carry over to datebk6, the nesest version.. it worked on one of the earlier versions
