Can somone please help this poor fool.

Let's take a $10,000 four year car loan at 5% to make life easy:

Using my old HP12C logic I press:

    48 [N]
5 [APR] (tried 0.05 as well, that doesn't work either)
    12 [P/Yr]
    10000 [PV]

and then the [Pmt] key to get the payment, and nothing happens.

    What am I doing wrong?

By the way, I DID look in the manual, and while it shows the calculator, it gives no directions on use.

    Thanks in advance

To simplify things, here's how I do it:

    Press <edit> button
On the next screen, enter the following values:
    Payments/year:12
    PV:10,000
    FV:0
    Pmt: <leave blank>
    APR: 5
    N:48

Press <solve> and your monthly payment should appear in the Pmt line.

I'm sure there are other ways, but that's what I do.
