    I am having the same problem with my e-mail as the person a few threads below. I am a Cingular customer and am using Roadrunner for my e-mail. I am able to receive e-mail just fine, but I am not able to send any e-mail. When I try to send an e-mail, I get a prompt that says;

    "We were unable to send mail using smtp-server.kc.rr.com. Please go to the Server tab of Account settings to correct this. If the problem continues, contact your mail provider for support".

    I have checked with Roadrunner and they have told me that it sounds as though I have entered the correct information and should be able to send mail. They then tell me that they are not trained in this area and that I should contact Cingular. When I contact Cingular, they tell me to contact Roadrunner. I am ready to pull my hair out as I have not had my Treo for approximately 6-7 weeks and have not been able to send one e-mail.

    I would appreciate it if one of you guru's of the Treo could let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for your help.

    This is an extensively discussed topic:

    http://discuss.treocentral.com/showt...hlight=port+25

    Basically, RR is blocking their smtp server either via authentication or port 25 blocking. Read the above thread for more info. You will most likely need to get an alternative smtp server...most likely either Cingular's or something like http://www.fastmail.fm/

    Cheers

    Edit: Just to update: After a bit of searhing for info, it seem that Cingular doesn't provide a smtp server for it's customers like other wireless providers! That's pretty ridiculous imo, but that's for another topic. Anyway, some one in another thread suggested using this smtp server for your outgoing mail:

    photo.mycingular.com

    http://discuss.treocentral.com/showt...=cingular+smtp

    However, it seems to add a ad to your emails. IMO, your best bet would be to just go ahead and get a fastmail.fm account and use that smtp server to send your email. It's just a one-time $14.95 dollar fee and you get a lifetime account...

    Great tip on fastmail.fm. Thanks! Cingular is the only wireless provider in the US without an SMTP server that they are willing to share. The photo smtp server has another purpose on their network and hence the ads. Time to get with the 3G program Cingular - email is the main application driving data use...
