Are you using a jpg enhancer program on your Treo? I use the one below which increases the jpg from 45K to about 200K.

I'm using Qset although I haven't cranked it up much.

I'm using QSet at 90. I've never taken any 200K pictures though. They end up being from 50K or so to at most 100K. As far as "not being too impressed indoors," reference this picture:

No special lighting. I think TA downsizes it too. The only point I was trying to make was that it doesn't take shots NEARLY as well as my Canon Elph, but it's FAR from worthless.

Which software package did you use for your video's? I noticed there was no sound, but still nice to see decent video's. Many TA video's are not clear.
I use MovieRec for the videos - the current version can't be converted to 3gp - required to be posted on TA - but hopefully it'll be part of a later version (or I'll find a converter program).

    Thanks Bunjin.

Could you please tell me how you got your video's from the Treo to your Blogsite at TA? I did some recordings today and was just looking at the MovieRec 1.13 version program but can't figure out how to post them there.

    Many thanks,

As I mentioned, I don't think you can post the current MovieRec vids. A previous version of MovieRec could be converted (using a program called "movieconverter", I believe) to 3gp format and e-mailed to TA.

I'm sure there is an "avi to 3gp" converter out there - when I get home (I'm in line for Harry Potter surfing on my Treo) I'll try to find one.

Update: If you go to forum.nokia.com, you can sign up and download the Nokia Converter (free) and convert avi's to 3gp's, which can be posted to TextAmerica.

So to summarize: you can take videos using MovieRec, convert them to avi using the Java program, convert them using Nokia converter, and then post them to TA. Pretty cool! (Alternately, you can take video using Live, convert them to avi +jpeg, create an avi using jpg2avi...etc.)

I just snapped a pic of the inside of my office on 99 and it states that it is 204K and took a pic of the first page of a printed document I am working on which registered 225K with Qset at 99. I usually leave Qset at 93 and the pics end up being between 120K - 165K (pretty decent quality).

I went out to Nokia's website and found this program. Have not completed the process but believe this is the right converter:

I don't think that's the same converter - it lists that it converts to WMV and AVI. If your goal is to create 3pg's, in order to create videos to post on TextAmerica, you need this one:

I just downloaded the converter...thanks for the help Bujin

The quality of pictures on the 600 is mostly determined by the light conditions and the shooter making sure any bright light sources are at his back. These are the only factors that makes one picture better than another. So for the crying out loud last time... P1 did NOT CHANGE the camera at any point!! You just took a really bad picture.

Thanks again! I used your link and program above and here is my 1st attempt at a conversion. Bear in mind I am not using a Treo video, but one from my Canon digicam since it was already in the AVI format (hence, saving one converting step), plus I don't lose audio.

The first thing I noticed with the conversion is how the video quality is diminished. Too bad, but hey -- can't have it all I guess.

For comparisons, here is the original 1st video in Real Player AVI format, a much larger file so the download time will be longer:

By the way, I've noticed that, by converting the movie to an avi using the MovieRec Java (which takes seconds), taking an extra step to slow the frame rate, add a filter to brighten and add contrast using VirtualDub (the whole process takes seconds), and then using Nokia Converter to finally convert to a 3pg file, you can end up with much higher quality video:
