I just received an email from Normsoft that a new version of Pocket Tunes was to be released in the next few days. It says that if you purchased or upgraded after March 29, 2004 the upgrade was free.

New features seem to be about using WMA files. It's not on their website yet.

Got the e-mail too. I was just about to post something.

I've also sent an e-mail to Toysoft to ask whether they've tested the new version with Lightwav. They weren't aware of the new version, so they hadn't tested it with Lightwav. They said they'd try to get a beta to test.

    I hope it does.

pockettunes 3.0 is at the palmgear website. haven't tried it yet....

    Thanks for the heads up.

I've downloaded, got my upgrade code, but think I'm going to wait to try it until I get confirmation fron Toysoft that it works with Lightwav.

Haven't seen anything about an upgrade price for those of us that were early adopters. Are we supposed to buy it again? $30 is a lot to pay for WMA support for us 2.0 owners.

it's also available on the normsoft website; there, you can find out if you qualify for a free upgrade (if your reg code starts with ptx or you bought it after March 29?, 2004).

I got this response from Toysoft for those of you interested in using the new version with Lightwav:

    hi,

    here is what normsoft said

    >3.0 is released on the web site now. The beta program is closed.

    >We didn't change anything with the API (some bug fixes), so it shouldn't
    >adversely affect LightWav.

Also my e-mail stated the following in regards to free upgrades:

Thank you for using Pocket Tunes on your Palm handheld. We are
getting ready to release version 3.0! Because you purchased Pocket
Tunes Deluxe on or after March 27, 2004, you qualify for a free upgrade
    to this new version!

    Lightwav seems to work fine.

BTW, I was wondering what Ogg Vorbis files are, since they are now supported in this version.

    I Answered my own question:

.ogg files work fine on 2.3.4 as well
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

So why would they release a special ogg plug in?
  13. #13
perhaps was in the product by default but now is a plugin you can keep in or not use to save space/RAM?

    "NEW in 3.0 Improved Plugins.
Ogg Vorbis and WAV support are now available as separate plugins to save space. "
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

I upgraded to ptunes v3 - it worked with no issues. The integration with Windows media player (version 9) worked great too.

got a response from normsoft and it doesn't work with windows media 10 yet

I purchased Pocket-Tunes Deluxe last fall during their free upgrade promotion. It's very nice to qualify for the upgrade to v.3.

I'm testing it out now - looks good so far!
    Palm V-->Visor Deluxe-->Visor Prism-->Visorphone-->Treo 180-->Treo 600-->Treo 650 on Sprint-->Treo 700p-->Centro-->Diamond-->Pre-->HTC EVO 4g???!
