    I read somewhere that if you press *18 and then dial it will beep into your ear three times and your phone will lock into the strongest signal in weak areas. Anyone else remember this, is it ture?

    Cingular doesn't do this on the Treo 600.
    I get a message saying the call cannot be completed.

    I tried it out on my SPCS phone - it did beep 3 times and hang up. Can't really tell if it DOING anything, but it did beep 3 times!

    Did you try this in a weak area?. Did you notice the sig bars increase?

    This is only for the Sprint network, and I think all it does is re-synchronize the connection from your phone to the tower. Why this would ever be necessary I'm not sure. Your phone will automatically lock onto the the tower with the strongest signal...

    It looks like it kinda worked for me. I ussually only average 1 bar. did the *18 thing and now it averages 2 to 3 Bars. Been gettin 2-3 bars for the past few hours, which is something that isn't normal where I'm at. As far as surfing speed, its noticable but it's not night and day.

    Not if you cancel it out by pressing ÷18

    just tried it. went from 1 bar to 2. Better signal at home now. Cool thanks for the tip.

    I dialed *18 from home, which is where I get the weakest signal; no difference.

    AWESOME TRICK! i tried this since my web wasnt "receiving" and suddenly it`s really zipping! very fast now.

    I tried this with my sprint and it did nothing, barely got one bar in my house and still only barely get one bar in my house. Oh well.
