    The site is down as of writing... Any idea when will it get back online...?

    I tried to format an A-Data 16GB SDHC in my T700P and it never finished formatting. It tried to format it all night over night one night. I think that either I had a bad card or it couldnt handle the 16GB. I dunno either way ever since my card was hosed (I tried to reformat it in my PC with little luck)

    Im expecting a RMA replacement from NewEgg this week Any ideas what the best way to format it is once I get it?

    Thanks!

    In my case, the card was first tested as-is out of the packaging in the Treo to see if it works.

    Then, I tried to formatted it using FAT32 and 32KB sector size but it failed.

    Then, I formatted it using FAT32 and 16KB sector size.

    As far as I know, the larger the sector size, the faster the speed. But the potential wasted space is also larger.

    Also, formatting a flash memory card should be much faster than a mechanical drive. If it appears to be slow, then something is probably wrong.

    Edit: The format was done in Windows Vista.

    Assuming you have an SDHC card reader, I would format from a command prompt:

    format /fs:FAT32 /A:32k {drive}

    where you replace {drive} with the letter of your SDHC card reader, like E: or F:
    the number after the /A is the sector size and you can probably play around with it to find out the ideal speed for your particular size card - the value can be 4096, 8192, 16K, 32K, 64K, and possibly 128K or 256K
