Hey, I was looking for some software (preferably free!) that allows me to have running prices for entered stock symbols. Like, every 5 minutes it updates or something. I will be getting Cingular with unlimited transfer, so the bandwidth is not an issue. I saw something on freewarepalm.com a while ago, but the link was broken, and now, 1 year later, it's not even there anymore. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!!

Check out Stock Manager, the number one stock portfolio manager for Palm OSŪ, Pocket PC and Microsoft Mobile Smartphone devices that can download up-to-date worldwide stock information at home or on the road.

You may have one hell of a time finding a free one.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'm installing it now. I will still try to get hold of that one posted on freewarepalm.com that seems to have dissapeared (wish me luck!!)

It's not freeware, but checkout Midcast Pro for the Treo600. It requires the J2ME, and supports real time streaming financial info...

I use TINY STOCK MANAGER which is free for tracking up to three stocks. You have to pay if you want to track more. It is a full featured app with charts and graphs and user defined alerts!

    HCTech,
Fasttrack looks good for quotes, but you can't easily import portfolios and track the percentage change and volume changes. This would be a big benefit.

I'm just messing around with some perl modules, wrote a quick app to fetch some stock info (I couldn't find a good *free* stock program). Doesn't fit the treo screen that well yet, charts are small. Didn't spend too much time on it but may do some work later. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Although not a proper "package," there are some very useful free stock info tools out there. The Yahoo! Finance site accepts portfolios, but I don't know any way to maintain an automatically refreshing update. However, you can set alerts that send an SMS message when triggered.

You almost certainly already know about these sites, but I figured it's worth listing for other folks who are looking. If you're drawing together data using Perl scripts, you might consider using them too. Or you might consider making your system into tool that creates links to various useful bits, like the investorguide.com research tool does.

Mercer, thanks for the links. I was aware of some of them, but not wap.oa.yahoo.com. It's plain but the info is there, I guess everyone just likes a different format and different data. I'm not looking to make anything big, I was just hoping to have quick access to some stock quotes when I'm using my Treo.

I don't like AvantGo, too many problems with it.

    I hear ya.

But like many "Avanto sites" the StockCharts one in the links I gave does not actually require you to use Avantgo to access it. Just use your wireless browser. I have harvested many useful Treo-sized Web pages' URLs using the AvantGo browser, but then entering the URLs into my Blazer bookmarks list, for anytime access without going through the AvantGo server system.

    Don't tell AvantGo!
