BeantownTreo600, are you also using SoundRec?
A1l3n - Well, my TakePhone screen rotations were working fine until I just went to the SoundRec app to confirm my version (SoundRec v 1.051) and came back to TakePhone where it now skips every other screen. Not sure if this is proof of correllation or not. But I don't have SoundRec configured to launch on the phone button as you do (press and hold R will launch that app on my phone) so I'm not aware of a conflict in that scenario.

I am further exploring Shimon's comments on:
1). Disabling my press-and-hold phone button to launch Treo phone app. Under the TP preferences screen "Using the 'Phone' button" I had "long press=launch 'phone' app." I have now selected "long press=do nothing" but it has not solved the problem

2). KeyCaps600 was set to be irrelevant in the phone app and then I disabled the app altogether to test TP's screen flipping. Did not solve the problem.

A1l3n - do you have any skins on your Treo phone app?

Shimon - please let me know if I've tested properly in your opinion. I look forward to getting this resolved.

    Hi,

Please, if you will, install and run the attached utility, then tap the button "Keys ON" on the right.

Now press the PHONE button as you do when the problem occurs, and let me know what you see on screen.

    Thanks !

And then to top it all off, I put the phone down for a while long enough for the screen to turn itself off, then came back to it, pressed the phone button (which should launch TakePhone) and the phone reset itself (saw the Palm logo etc.). By the way, is this called a soft reset?

After this reset, I went to TP app and scrolled through the screens one at a time as it should. Then I felt a little risky (or stupid) and launched SoundRec again and played a stored recording. Then launched TakePhone and sure enough the screens double flipped again.

Put the phone to sleep again, then pressed the phone button to launch TP where the phone again reset itself. TP screens then properly flipped. Tried all of my apps one by one and none affected TP's screen flipping. I then tested MovieRec which is from the same dev as SoundRec and TP worked as it should after MovieRec. So it appears that SoundRec is the possible culprit after all. Let me know if there is any other testing you would like me to do for you Shimon. I like the SoundRec app so I'm hesitant to delete it unless you can recommend an alternative (or unless you will be incorporating this useful tool into a future version of TP or 2day..... ;-)

    Hi,

    I am off to bed...

But - please try KeyTest from post above after you run SoundRec, and let me know what you see.

    Hi all,

    Long time...

A new build just posted at www.shsh.com/products

    What's new in TAKEphONE 6.00 (012):

    - Treo 600: Voicemail vibration changed to the one assigned for voicemail
    (not the general RING one).
    - Tungsten-W: Fixed issue with 5-way navigator usage in Speed-Dial screen.
    - Capturing: Fix for capturing email addresses with digits in them.
    - History view: Added access to calls category selector with the 5-way
    navigator.

    Thanks !

    I see:

    c=204, k=204, m=808

Thus far, I haven't been able to see any soft resets that I can associate with TAKEphONE at all, even though I do have SoundRec 1.051 and KeyCaps600 installed. I do have the "Disable in Phone App" option checked in KeyCaps.

Shimon - I love the contact selection choices your apps give when building a to-do or meeting and selecting "Lookup". Having the choice to select email, or phone or any of the fields is incredible. Thanks. In fact, I'm dumping SmartInput because it does not offer this flexibility so I'll be using TP and 2day as the primary way I input to-do's and meetings.

But SmartInput does have category select for new to-dos and meetings. Would it be possible to include category selection for 2day and TP when adding a new to-do and/or meeting (drop-down field to save space??)? The 2day app will display the category name and a category icon per preferences (call, meeting, business, etc) but a user can only establish a category for an entry by going through a few additional steps: add the to-do or meeting in TP or 2day, then create-and-edit which brings the user to the default to-do or calendar app, then the user must open the details and then select a category.

Would this enhancement request be a valued feature by the TreoCentral users of 2day/TakePhone? Or are the majority of these needs already met via Agendus and DateBK, etc? What do you think?

Regarding category selection - this was left out cause of a decision I made - 2day is not meant to be a replacement to any datebook app, but rather an enhancement.

As such - I had to draw a line of what functions you can do within 2day (the common, immediate ones), and what functions will remain handled by the main app (selecting categories, private, adding notes, editing existing records, selecting icons & colors, etc.)

    Sorry...

    Maybe in the next generation...

Shimon - I have a SprintPCS T600 running registered TAKEphONE v6.00 (12) and noticed a little something I thought you'd be interested in. When I select a contact from the Find-screen which brings me into the contact details and then click left on the d-pad to go back to the Find-screen the signal-strength indicator disappears at the top of the screen. It will reappear when I scroll through the rest of the app's screens (by pressing the phone button).

I also notice this same issue when I click the menu button and select "About" to remind myself what version I have of TP then click OK.

Its a little issue but thought you should know for future builds.

Question - does this happen when you show "About" from the "Dial/Create" screen (bottom tab), too ?

Yes. The signal strength indicator disappears when I show "About" from the Dial/Create screen and the find screen.

    Hi,

excuse me, if this is stupid question, I scanned through preferences few times and searched manual.

I want to redial last called number using hardware buttons. This is very usefull when dialing busy numbers while driving.

Back on my T180 I could do it using jog-dial. Maybe, this could be done using long-press phone button. I need redial much more often than beaming my business cards. I also never do beaming while driving

    thanks, Kreso

    I am using T600 and TP v.6 build 10

    Shimon:

Is there a way to get back to the current call screen other than long-press phone button or menu choice?

    Thanks.

If you set the PHONE app within the PHONE button loop, then it will take you there. Otherwise - no other ways I can think of...

Shimon - not a lot of activity here on TP thread so allow me to kick it off a little. The data entry of new contacts presents a multi-step process for TP. I'm sure TP was not designed to be a data-entry tool or a complete contact database building tool so I'm just talking about the basics here. Specifically, the "N" field in the create page assumes that a two-word entry is a first and last name. If I input "ABC Widgets" as a company, TP splits the entry into ABC being the first name and Widgets being the last. In order to correct this users must either open&edit the contact, then right-click on the 5-way then left click on the 5-way to get to the open button (or use the stylus), then click the edit button to get into the contact app. Users cannot scroll through the contact page and select the "company" field for edits - stylus use only.

I have been using Slap or a shortcut to the Treo phone app where I click down for Contacts and then over to add new contact. More specific thoughts to add later but thought I'd introduce the idea(s).

    Hi,

You are correct - this was not designed as a data-entry screen, but rather as a "jot down my phone number" screen.
I will try and revise this for the next generation...

    Thanks !
