BustAGroove, Your posts on the hiptop board helped me move on to the Treo 600. Glad I listened. My wife and my friend Dave bought one too.

gmall33, everything is a compromise but I am really happy with the Treo 600. There are some things the SK does better (not many) but unless something has changed since my contract with T-Mobile ended in January there were only 2 OTA OS upgrades that I know of and only a few additional programs such as the football game, calculator and new ring tones added. I don't think a single outside SW developer ever got to add a program to the SK.

As you can see from this board there are hundreds (thousands?) of really neat apps to experiment with that really add to the Treo 600.

I don't know what happended to elysian 9's great link to "Treo 600 specific utilities/tools/fixes by TC members but Danger would never have allowed, as far as I know, all the great improvements made by so many creative TC members.

I can access my favorite free website now that uses a java script logon only (don't get me started), autosport.com. Can not do that on the SK!

I have Audible books, Palm Reader, Kinoma and Pocket Tunes deluxe (old time radio show on shoutcast and on mp3s to play on PT) to keep me from getting bored while my wife shops. Backup Buddy, FileZ, LexSpell, List and LookAtMe (thanks IvyRose also from Sacramento), Mega Clock, Resco Palm Viewer and Text Plus to... whatever! I'm adding Snappermail (Sprint's PCS Mail is not adequate) and Docs To Go Premium (when it gets 5 way support).

Now if I can just get to the top or bottom of a web page as easily as I did on the SK and if someone could combine the best of Treo Butler, Phone Guard and Treo Allegro everything would be prefect.

This post has gotten too long for this thread. Do it gmall33 you will be gald you did.

Regarding your #1, you should checkout the Treo600 phone toosl suite form smartphontools:

Unfortunately its not a free solution, but it appears to fill exactly what you're looking for...

The most difficult part of the transition was having to forward all of my email messages from the T-Mobile Desktop Interface to another POP email account took a few hours. I take the Treo hands over the Sidekick. I've gone through several SideKick replacements and and am still on my original Treo 600.

I would like to be able to set any alarm to ring even if the physical switch is set to silent.

meyerweb, thanks for the tip re: clockpop

Installed it and the to-do xtern.

The documentation must be for some other Palm device as the default hard button on the Treo 600 is the phone button an not the Calendar (Datebook) button as I had expected. And no other choices work any of the other hard buttons but that's no problem.

Have you installed any of the xterns? I get nothing from my to-do list when I display the clock as the documentation suggest I should. I have Appointments checked but all that does is display the month, day and year at the bottom of the clock display.

FileZ shows the the to-do xtern file but I can not even see how you can program it as there is no way to open it. But the documentation says it should show the first 3 on your to-do list by default which is all I need.

I have tried entering to-do items from both the Calendar and To-Do List on the Treo. Still no to-do items displayed on the clock.

Do you know if a skin is required t get the to-do to display?

Also when the display (backlight) is off the clock does not pop up when you press and hold the hard button.

I simply wish there was the ability to have the LED flash when you have new mail/sms/alerts. And I know that iChatter does this, but I do not like its interface - why can't this be done on the mail program that comes with it or one of the more standard email programs?

Treo Allegro will flash the Arrow light orange when you have messages. It will also Auto reset on reset eliminating the need to activate internet connectivity manually.

Slick50: Also check out Treo Butler. It gives you several options for using the LED as an alert.

Taleria: I haven't tried anything beyond the basic ClockPop program yet. I may give it a try when I have a little more time. Also, I didn't have any problem assigned clockpop to the rightmost button on my Treo. I set the Trigger button to "Memo" and it works fine.

meyerweb, must be brain fad. The to-do xtern for Clockpop works great.

I had entered an appointment and a to-do in the Treos' Calendar for today and was expecting to see something last night as I had no other entries past then (I am still trying to get caught up entering everything on the Treo I had on my SideKick) and I thought the default was to show the first three items regardless of how far off they were.

But today the APPOINTMENT was there, but not the TO-DO entry. Since there is a box to check for Appointments in the Clockpop preferences it appears it really means for appointments and not for to-do as the name of the xtern implies.

Just as the trigger button selection (which is working fine now) names do not correspond to the button names on our Treos'. Think button postion, not name, when selecting trigger button.

However, I am very happy with the app. as is.

As I recall from the Treo User's Guide I can set some other key to launch the To-Do List app.

To continue with the original concept of this thread I hope we will soon be able to see Video Mail on the Treo 600. Bought my daughter a Sprint Toshiba VM4050 a couple of weeks ago and it would be nice to be able to see some video clips when I am traveling or when she goes off the college this fall.

As an aside, if and when, a new Treo comes out I hope it has at least as good a screen as the Toshiba. It is awesome. It makes you wonder what the Handspring people were thinking about when they put such a poor screen on a $600.00 smartphone. They should have tossed the crapy camera and gone with a hi-res screen if it came down to $ or space.

Video is on my Treo wish list too, but I tend to doubt it will happen unless there is a software app that will run it.

A couple of months back we had contacted a developer of a Clie video software product and he said they were working on something for the Treo but would not give details.

Here's one: add an edit call log feature. I'd like to add a comment in the log about whether call was work related or personal. That way, when I do my monthly reconcilliation, I can bill the company appropriately without having to call any unfamiliar numbers to find out what they are! Thanks.
