Oh boy... I can't believe I forgot about this one! Here's the thread to get the patch to retreive phone call durations on the Sprint Treo 600:

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/tc...+duration.html

It works perfectly. Just sync phone_logo.prc to your Treo 600 and viola!... you now have call duration info!

Not going to add this to the list for the following reasons:

    • a. Not sure if developer is just advertising on TC or is actually a participating member.
      b. I've no problem with shareware, but this tool is expensive for what it does, and, most importantly, there is no trial version. That seems to be inharmonious with the spirit here.

I could be talked into it adding it, if anyone really has an overwhelming passion for this app, or if I'm wrong about this.

    Sitcky:

Thanks gfunk for getting toolkit to heed the call. I guess my voice was just not loud enough.

List is updated on first post.

There have been a few requests for format adjustments to the list. The list was very time consuming to create. I do update it regularly for one and all. Regarding the format requests:

    * 'Thread' indicates that there is a TC thread on the subject tool if the tool name links directly to the .prc file.
    * no "Thread' means that the .prc file is either: i) elsewhere, e.g., PalmGear, or that the TC thread updates the .prc from time to time, and it is necessary to find the most current version within the thread.
    * Descriptions. I just don't have the time to do this, but I think it's a good idea. I urge one or more of you to PM me with the descriptions and I will add them.
    * Now that we've got this as a STICKY (I've got it bookmarked on both Desktop and Treo), if anyone thinks of a great format change, adjustment, ro whatever, if you can email me the HTML formatted changes and what the change/addition is, that would make it much easier for me to add.

    Dank u, ToolkiT!

is there an app that enables you to send a particular detail on your contact to another phone with ease? i have tried the SMS Address but the resulting sms message looks horrible to say the least. is there another alternative?

Not aware of any app that can do that. It's really a copy and paste thing, it seems. With TST (TreoSelecText), you could very easily copy and paste the 'particular detail' into an email without every removing your stylus.

is there a utility that enables MP3s to be used as a ringtone? surely if the treo butler can use MP3s for it's alerts, having it as a ringtone is not impossible

by the way, thanks for the quick reply elysian9

Your best bet is to search these boards. This thread is rather specific to tools and fixes crated only by T/C members.

Finding this list has been a great help - it's impossible to always find the right information by doing a search (and it gets worse the more people post!)

However, there would be another great page that could be put together (for newbies and less tech minded) - one that provides a list of topics which lead you to a helpful explanation of how the treo device does things. I've posted asking to be shown the way to a manual and got, well sweet FA.

    For example:
Ringtones and sound files (give me a quick explanation of how the treo uses them, how to install them, etc.)
FIle system - (gives me a how the treo files things and how to move files around, etc.)
Photos/pictures - (tells me what the treo supports, how to view and what else can be done with them e.g. set as wallpaper)

Am I asking too much or is it just beneath people to have to explain it all? I think my treo is just great but I don't have the time to hunt through millions of posts to find bits of information that I had assumed would already exist in some manual or reference source.

If this priceless font of knowledge already exists then forgive me and point me in the right direction.

Have a look at the FAQ at treo600essentials.com, recently acquired by TreoCentral but it's almost like TC is doing everything they can to keep people from going to this site. IMHO the following link should be made sticky to EVERY Treo 600 related forum on this board:

We were all once newbies, so your inquiry is a valid one. I'm not sure how to answer your question, except by saying that reading the Treo 600 User Guide has been a great help to me (and others). Searching these boards does not always answer some of the basic questions and so it can be very frustrating, I know. I've noticed 'newbie' postings from time to time, and I try to help, if I have time to spend on it, but often I just do not, which I imagine is also the explanation for some of your unanswered posted questions. Not to brush you off, but this thread is rather specific, so you are unlikely to find answers to issues of basic functionality.

Read the following Faq for some answers:

    http://treo.tc/smartfaq/smartfaq.cgi

As far as the file system, install freeware FileZ. This should really be standard for all users. Also you can use the Treo camera for Mobloging, taking snapshots, wallpaper, picturemail, email attachments via email etc. I personally use Resco as my defualt viewer. Do a search for more info on these topics...

P.S. The Webviewer thread has a great how-to on how to install the Websphere J2ME on the Treo600. It's not a spefic app or fix, but perhpas worthy of mention here...

and I appreciate the input from this thread alone. I'm in the same boat as Mr_A, with the same concerns and needs. This thread has helped, and thanks for the patience to put all this stuff out there.

There is so much, its hard to wade through it when you don't know where to start.

Now, can someone tell me what "sticky" means (see, I just am so clueless right now.....).

    Thanks!
