DTMF tones are thoes cute notes that a regular phone makes when you dial a phone number. The software that is being refered to makes thoes tones, so you hold your treo (Or other PDA) up to a the mic of the regular phone when it makes thoes tones and it "Dials" the number for you.

Isn't there something just wrong with having your cell phone dial a landline?

I was not being serious, I know that there are good situations for using this kind of app. I was just being a smart #%&.

I use TakePhone after reading this thread found that Takephone supports another DTMF program called TeleTones. I just installed it and in TakePhone under Telephony, then under "Location" I selected "Other" and for Dial using: I selected Smartphone/App then "TeleTone" from the drop down list. Now I can use TakePhone to dial a landlinephone and I should be able to coinfigure a calling card for the configuration as well. Prettyu Neat!

Info on TeleTone ca be found here .
