    I finally got local web pages to work on the treo.
    I put an HTML file into the root of my SD card and invoked Blazer with:

    file:///default.html

    or in a subdirectory:

    file:///web/default.html

    THIS IS SO AWESOME because now instead of custom databases, I can set up a "web" on the SD card and get Blazer to do the rendering and hyperlink traversal!!!!!

    This IS awesome! Is there a Perl interpreter for PalmOS? Could have some fun with CGI.

    Jaslo's saying that he can have a static html page on his SD card as the home page for Blazer. This allows him to create a page with his 'favorite' links on it rather than wait for Blazer to access his favorites in a .pdb file.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

    I'll have to try it but that would be very cool. Thanks for the tip.

    would it be possible to launch .prc via an .html page?

    If so, couldn't you theoretically create an app launcher type page or a > 50 contacts page?

    You could use this trick to make a photo album for those people that want a better way to display photos than the Camera app. Make a little slideshow html app that has links to all the photos.

    I have not been able to get this to work yet, but the books say that it is possible.

    This is from the palm os PQA developer tutorial:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>"palm" Test</title>
    <meta name="PalmComputingPlatform" content="true">
    </head>
    <body>
    <h1 align="center">Special Function Palm Tester</h1>
    <p><a href="palm:memo.appl">Memo Pad<a>
    </body>
    </html>

    calendar is "date book.appl"
    I think you need to have the meta-tag there for it to work.
    also be aware of the meta-tag
    <meta name="HandheldFriendly" content="True">
    which keeps tables from unrolling.

    I thought PQA's were dead w\ OS5? I wonder if palm: was something that worked for versions prior to OS4 but won't work now?

    Update us if you get it to work.

    Thanks.

    Hey I'm not just making this stuff up!

    From the Treo 600 Developer Guide:

    Palmcall
    This keyword is similar to the Palm keyword except that
    Blazer will sub-launch the specified application. Once
    the application exits, the user will return to Blazer.
    Example:
    <A HREF="palmcall:flip.appl">Flipper</A>
    Parameters can also be passed into the application
    using the sysAppLaunchCmdURLParams launch code.
    For more information on this and the palm and
    palmcall tags, please refer to the following tutorial
    on the Palm OS developer web site:
    http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/webclipping/
    tutorials/tutorial_palm.html

    This was originally PQA stuff, but they claim its supported in Blazer 3. Anyway, I'll keep on trying to get this to work.

    I only asked because it is well known that PQA's are dead with OS5 and your original reference didn't say it was from the Treo 600 developer guide, you just mentioned the PQA tutorial.

    oh yeah JASLO, please enlighten us with a compendium of URL addresses to launch ANYTHING from RAM and SD card...

    ...BTW, i was thinking i could read my HTML ebooks directly from SD card without converting them .pdb [iSiloX, baby...].

    what would be the URL to launch a file (whether HTML or not) in LAUNCHER folder on the SD card for instance ?

    file:///Palm/Launcher/{filename}

    ...and pardon my ignorance but:

    why 3 slashes (///) after punctuation (or for that matter why 2 [when there are 2 only]) ?

    is "file" the first URL text word to put on the address line in BLAZER to load ANY file/page, or should we learn about different commands before addressing folder/files...
    ...in clear, is it always FILE before punctuation or do different commands exist (with different results)... ?

    where could we find essential documentation about this feature ?

    THX

    This will also allow developers to provide HTML help files with their apps.

    It's great if u know a little html and want to create a homepage that does some cool stuff and loads really fast since it doesn't have to download. If the app launcher works, consider it like customizing your own today screen like in outlook and such.
