Real Player now says "Download the RealPlayer for PalmOne Handhelds and play RealPlayer Music Store files on your Treo 600, Tungsten, or Zire handheld!"

However On the list of devices on the Download page there is NO Treo 600. And no matter what other Palm I choose I get an error message...

Has ANYONE gotten this to work? (Or even tried?)
    Palm III > Palm IIIC > Handera 330 > Kyocera 6035 & Sony NR70V > Treo 600 > Treo650 & Palm LifeDrive > Modded LifeDrive w/16gig CF > Palm Pre

It looks like you have to sign up for the Music Store to get the version that supports the Treo 600. That requires giving them your credit card.

That is the version I am talking about... It still does not work. I guess I'll e-mail them tomorrow...

even worse is the fact that it's only available for US citizens! doesn't the rest of the world matter anymore???

surely it would make far more sense to allow people to buy the palm os5 version rather than bundle it with membership to a crappy music store thats only available to the US?

They also took down a small *disclaimer about support for the Treo 600 after January 31, 2004 that was at the bottom of the palm real player download pages. It was up there till 2/1/2004 and now its gone. Guess we aren't seeing the real player for quite some time.

I've been watching / waiting for the Real Player for my Treo 600 as well -- and sigh, still not there yet. Maybe we should all email Real to ask when it WILL be available.

Looks to me like Real has been taking marketing tips from T-Mobile. Pity, eh?

This is the message I sent them:

I was wondering when you would support the Treo 600?
Your current download page for the player says that the Treo 600 is supported, but there is no Treo 600 device to choose from.
And this is the response!!! How stupid are they!

    Here's what I asked:

Your web page said there is a version for Palm OS for the Treo 600. I cannot find it on the download site.
Here was the response I got:

Thank you for contacting Music Store at Real.com.

How can you get the most out of your Music Store downloads? Transfer them to a portable device and take them with you anywhere! All of the devices listed below can play Music Store downloads. Look for some special offers - exclusively from the RealPlayer Music Store.

    Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra

    PalmOne Zire 71

    PalmOne Tungsten E

    PalmOne Tungsten T3

    PalmOne Tungsten T2

    PalmOne Tungsten

NOTE: Only the Zen Xtra model is compatible at this time. Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen, Zen NX, or the 3 are NOT compatible. For this device, YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE LATEST NOMAD ZEN XTRA FLASH UPGRADE FROM: http://smilparse.real.com/showcase/m...sh_zenxtra.rnx

If your portable device is listed above, remember to "Make it Music Store compatible". To do this, please follow the instructions below:

    Instructions:

    1. click this link and locate your device from the page: http://smilparse.real.com/showcase/m...ices/index.htm
    2. click on the link below the Buy Now and More Info bar that says "MAKE IT MUSIC STORE COMPATIBLE". This will initiate the installation of the DRM security driver that is required to player or transfer any of your downloads.

NOTE: The PalmOne Tungsten's all use the same link, which is located above the pictures.

We hope this information helps and if there is anything else we can assist you with please let us know.

I do not think that Real.Com has a clue! I am canceling my account. If someone else posts here that they finally got Treo 600 support, then MAYBE I'l look at them again.

I've always despised Real anyway (I only was willing to install Real player due to no other alternatives at this time).

Real's PC applications are CPU hogs, have monitoring services installed w/o your consent/knowledge, and their install components have historically caused problems with other programs/services and operating systems.

Obvioiusly, their support sux and there is a disconnect between R&D, administration, and field services.

Having said all that, I *will* miss not having streaming video support. <sigh>

Let us know if it *works* and if you have to sign up/pay fees for their music store.

no , it does not work
"The system is missing features required to run this application, or the system support is out of date"

Same here... but I'd be interested to know what apps you have installed and if your phone is GSM/CDMA or any other details you might think of. Maybe someone can figure out what files are missing or what the differences are.

Real now says Realplayer 10 will be available for the Treo 600 after Feb. 5. The wait continues....
  19.    #19
I complained to them that they removed the disclaimer for COMMING SOON for the t600, and that I was going to cancel the account. I also told them that they should add the disclaimer back. They told me "We are not selling a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel" The COMPLEATLY IGNORED THE OTHER PART OF MY MESSAGE!!!

They must be lacking the intellegence to understand cause and effect. AND they must be too dumb to understand ANY complaints that contain 2 parts!!!!
