Is there a way to completely turn off the display and backlight during a call? If I'm on the phone for a 30+minutes it seems like a waste of battery life to keep the display on.

I searched the forums but I couldn't really find any insightful on this subject

    Thanks,

Apparently you don't know how to do a search since this is one of the hottest topics here......

    thanks for the help.

I did do a search, but as far as I read it's not possible to turn off the backlight, it's only possible to dim it, if I'm talking for an hour on the phone there is absolutely no reason to keep the display on. I found threads where people were as dumbfounded as I am as to why such a smart feature doesn't exist.

I already have my display on the lowest possible brightness setting.

Show me the error of my ways and point me to a thread that actually shows how to disable the backlight on the Treo 600.

    woof!

Thanks a bunch. It works like a charm.
My problem was that I was searching only in the 'Treo 600' section (a global search on "backlight AND display AND call" was returning too many results).

There's also a real simple app named Sandman, which lets you shut off the screen with the press of a button. A search here for it should get you a link.
