    Hi All

Does anybody else have a problem receiving MMS messages. I have 3 network profiles:

    'Desktop' (connection for Softick PPP)
    'Internet' (GPRS from Optus)
'MMS Connection' (GPRS connection for MMS, sent by Optus)

Now in order to get my MMS working, I have to Set the Network to be the MMS connection. And the MMS program to be Automatic. Nothing else works.

This means that if I have the internet set for my normal GPRS, I always need to change it before receiving an MMS. Very irratating.

Anybody else have this problem and a solution?

    Your help is appreciated.

I also have the problem with an unlocked Treo 600 using Vodfone UK.

Never had the problem with Orange.

Anyone able to help on this?

I use an unlocked Treo on Vodafone inHolland the built in app wont work to send (only recieve) but I use Pixer too and this does work both ways, oddly Pixer has pre-sets built-in for Voadafone UK and NL(so you dont have to look for them) but these are the same as the ones I had entered for the MMS app, so it must be a software issue with the built-in MMS app and the Vodafone network I guess...

oddly when I was in London UK last week the MMS app did work when I was roaming on the UK Vodafone network

    strange...

I use the same GPRS network settings for internet, MMS and mail, no different settings required, Vodafone can't help me further than give me the 'likely' settings I need (which I already had) but have said that they are working on new network 'thingies' for PDAs as the technology is still not really implemented yet (for Vodafone that is)

    any more ideas any one?

bit off topic but if anyone can answer my other thread question I would be grateful

    cheers

    You're way ahead of me.

With Telstra, even if my network's set to MMS, all MMS messages I receive turn up as an SMS with an ID and password and a link to Telstra's web site where I have to view the MMS.

Have you got Telstra to turn the MMS ability on for your account? That tells them that your phone can receive MMS messages.

For Orange Swiss, I had to go to PhotoMessaging/Menu/Prefs and select custom/edit and then custom (select Orange MMS GPRS).

This works for both send and receive but you have to actually disconnect from Orange Express and manually connect to Orange MMS GPRS.

I called Orange and they are 'looking into it'

I am having similar trouble with T-Mobile. I have three GPRS settings, but the only one that work is tzones. IF I don't leave the default network set to this I get 'communication error' when receiving MMS. I am runningg firmware 1.09 INT...

I had this problem when I was using TrafficStats. I removed this app and all worked as beofore.

If you use this dump it.

    Done.

I already had the settings (presumably from when GPRS was installed), but now I'm actually receiving each MMS.

All of the following combinations work for my MMS:

    1. Network = Telstra.internet (GPRS) / MMS = Automatic
    2. Network = Telstra.internet (GPRS) / MMS = Custom = Telstra.mms
    3. Network = Telstra.mms / MMS = Automatic

I have the TrafficStat trial installed.

I'm a T-Mobile subscriber using an Cingular "unlocked" branded phone. I can send pictures with no problem using MMS but when pictures are sent to "phonenumber"@tmomail.net or "phone number/name alias@tmomail.net", the subject is received but any attachments or rich text gets stripped. I've called T-Mobile several times and on the last instance they referred me to Handspring's customer support center.

I have a Cingular unlocked with T-Mobile also. I tried an experiment and found if the network was set to T-Mobile Internet, then I got the MMS but not the content as you noted. If set the network to T-Zones, it seems to come through OK.

Thanks a bunch for the "workaround"....although this will be quite a hassle switching to TZONES/WAP only when I know that someone will be sending me a MMS picture. There should be built in functionality to accomodate picture/MMS messaging without having to go into the Network profile to toggle settings. After I switched to TZONES and then tried to retrieve my POP/IMAP email, Treo is in a loop with soft resets . When I switched the Network profile back to T-Mobile Internet / VPN, soft resets stopped.

I'm reading through the T-Mobile Internet Help and this is what I've found:

    1. "Unlike with most other wireless services, your connection to the T-Mobile Internet network is always on when your phone, laptop or PDA is on, so no more dialing and waiting for a connection. It's your instant connection.
Does anyone else experience the same problem?

The above is inaccurate in the case of my Treo 600, I have to consistantly go into my Network profile to establish a connection or access Blazer to turn on the connection.

    2. T-Mobile Internet Manager is an included software program that allows you to use the T-Mobile Internet service with your data devices where the service is available. It's designed to help you set up a wireless connection to the Internet using a modem connection through your T-Zones phone or T-Mobile Internet PC modem"

    - Since we have Cingular branded devices but are using T-Mobile SIM cards and are T-Mobile subscribers, is this functionality available on Treo 600? I'm currently using third-party software - "PDANet" which does work fine.

    3. "T-Mobile Internet Accelerator Service is a clientless web accelerator solution, which speeds up your wireless web browsing experience by optimizing and compressing the content of the web pages."

    - There is no mention of Palm-based browsers in T-Mobile Internet Accelerator help section. Will/is there anything comparable for Palm based PDAs supported by T-Mobile?

Anyone out there with a T-Mobile branded Treo 600 using T-Mobile SIM and T-Mobile subscriber experiencing any of the above problems? Wondering whether a T-Mobile ROM/flash type upgrade address any of these issues.

I just filed a bug / enhancement report ('040222-000295') for the TZones/Internet connectivity issues through T-Mobile Customer Support Center via the web.

P.S. - Warning: Be sure to examine charges related to T-Mobile Internet / VPN usage if you have subscribed to the T-Mobile Internet Unlimited service for $19.99. For the months of December and January, my bill reflected charges for "actual usage per MB", instead of being charged the flat rate of $19.99. T-Mobile Wireless Data representative admitted this is a known issue with their billing service that is also affecting other subscribers.

If you are having this problem, they should offer to contact you after you receive your next bill to confirm that you were only charged the flat rate, instead of the per MB usage rate.

Notice, that "Will" or "Dominic" did not directly address the annoying "toggle" of TZones-to-TMobile Internet ritual to enable MMS.

    Response (Will) - 02/25/2004 08:23 AM
    Dear "BustAGroove"

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.

Unfortunately, we do not know when the billing of your internet service will be fixed. T-mobile internet is always on, you do need to sign in at the time you are going to use it. T-mobile internet manager will not work with your Treo since you have html browsing built in. T-mobile accelerator is built into your service and you are automatically using it when you sign it. No, a ROM/flash will not fix any of these issues.

We have transferred your issue to our Wireless Data Specialists for review. At this time, they are receiving a high volume of email, so they will respond to your issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
