I would like this feature if it were more explained. For example, I can only get it to work with the few words listed in this thread. I tried with many other words, both contractions and not, and couldn't get it to do any other predictive text.

I usually have no problem typing on the phone, but those one-handed times would be nice to do predictive.

I haven't found many that's true they seem to have
made it a hard-wired feature yet with very limited
usage which is even more useless really, Nokia did a better
job of using the T9 technology but they were smart
enough to make sure you could switch it off

on my old treo 270 typing mn then spacebar
turned into minute that no longer works on the 600
as chritopher pointed out lower case i still annoyingly becomes
capital I and my wel = we'll example of course

not sure how may more there are, anybody know of others?

You can edit your shortcuts (unders preferences) to make mn become minutes.
Of course the unfortunate is that you cannot turn off the auto-text.

When you first set up your phone, what language did you choose?
I think that this is the problem right there.
I resently had to do a hard reset (thanks to MovieRec) and it asked me what language I want to set it to...I thought on your text problem and check to see if Dutch was part of the language but it's not...there was only (beside Eng of course) Italian, Deutch, Spanish, and I can't remember the other (in total there were like 5).

Did you try getting in contact with HandSpring support...maybe, just maybe they might be able to do something about it (I wouldn't hold my breath though )

P.S. What part of Holland you're at?
My best friend moved up, but she doesn't live in the section where mot St. Maarteners move to (Roterdam) she said she doesn't want to feel like she's in St. Maarten

Oh by the way, thank you for the compliment
  4.    #24
yeah but short cuts you edit don't override the built in ones
I tried that to kill the 'wel - we'll' one but it persists

mines set in English but it may be a good point

I would try calling Handspring except they have vanished
off the face of planet PDA (I'll mail Pa1mOne instead)

I live in Amsterdam (for 14 years) but I'm
actually a brit...love it here great people...

So what networks are you using in downtown
St. Maarten? KPN? Vodafone? you must be
quite unique with a Treo there?
<<< insert witty comment here >>>

Don't really know the network (but I know it's been borrowed from Holland) but the company I'm with is called TelCell.

Yes, I am the only one on this island with a T600 but trust me it does have its disadvantages...for one, I can receive sms but can't send.
Everything is set up right...if I take my sim out and put it in another phone I am able to send sms. Telcell blams it on my phone and says that they basically can't do anything about it. One of the technician asked that i leave the phone there so that he can 'figure' it out...I told him no thanks.
I refuse to have someone 'play' around with my Treo fully knowing that he has no clue as to what he's doing.

I'm going to call one of the managers (who happenes to be a friend of mine) and tell her to have him download a simulator...after all that's what they are for right?

Not sure why but smartphone are not very popular here...people here are still caught up with the smaller the phone the better. Nokia was a huge hit here until they fell behind by not having color screen or cameras.

But all in all I rather not have sms than having to change my Treo

(I have altered the email address)

A few hours later, after I sent a reply stating I was very keen on trying a beta, I received a file called "KeyWord.prc" which worked as advertised on the Tungsten W.

Before I post the prc here, I want to email Abbey to ask for permission. I also want to google for KeyWord, maybe it has turned into a commercial piece of software (actually, I'm going to bed now (it's 11pm here in Norway) so I won't do anything until tomorrow, but if someone wants to google for KeyWord please post their results here).
And last, but not least, I'm going to try the prc on my 600 to see what happens.

    Stay tuned!

OK, I installed, crossed my fingers, and entered Prefs.
At the very top of the list, I now had an option called "AutoCorrect" (above Buttons, Connection, etc.).
Unfortunately, when selecting "AutoCorrect", the Treo resets itself (as expected, I guess...).

Oh well, I've emailed Abbey and hopefully I'll receive an answer soon.

    Hi Chistopher,

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to make any updates to that app.
Feel free to post and distribute the app. I don't think it will work on the Treo or any other Palm for that matter. All the app does to enable/disable the AutoCorrect feature is set a system global.

    Cheers,
    Abbey

...as I said, it doesn't work on the Treo 600, but maybe someone could tear it apart and modify it in order to make it work?

    /Christopher

PS. If you want to delete the app, be aware that it's listed as Autocorrect in the Delete list (and not KeyWord).
The app itself will not appear in the launcher, only in the Prefs list.

It's interesting how most men simply wants to have their girlfriend shut up and every woman simply want their man to have a big d*ck.

Perhaps it's the way you choose your women...it's fine with you guys for a woman to blab her mouth off on the first date b/c you are still all lovey lovey over her but the minute that infactuation is gone then everything is called nagging. At least you have a choice...you can tell right off the bat whether you want such a loquacious woman...meanwhile, the women (the unfortunate ones) are stuck as they don't get to know about your size till it's too late (you've made the plung)
