There is no "official" Palm presence at this year's conference. Also, neither Cingular/T-Mobile/Sprint are present. Palm/T-Mobile/Cingular/Sprint are not listed as exhibitors/vendors on the Lotusphere agenda, which is surprising because there was an press release I think from last month that RIM/Palm are working together with IBM for Palm OS 5 devices (i.e, Treo 600) to have Blackberry-ish push technology later this year.

AT&T Wireless is here plugging their mobile solution for PIM access for the Blackberry device. Official support for the Treo 600 by AT&T for IBM/Lotus PIM functionality is coming 2Q 2004 and I got a flyer that it will be able to run on EDGE(??) which I thought I read somewhere that the Treo 600 would not have this capability.

I did get to see a brief demo of Sametime (IBM's instant messaging product) on the Treo 600 @ AT&T booth but later we couldn't get a server connection on the Treo 600 after several failed attempts so I went to go check out the Blackberry/RIM booth and also to enter drawings so I can get innundated with SPAM from the onsite vendors

Lotusphere Online (LO) is for the attendees to check for conference agenda changes and to "network" with other conference attendees. LO has Palm OS software for the attendees to download the agenda and to create their "own" personal schedule. We can make changes to the schedule from our Palm devices and can also synch up with a Lotus Workplace kiosk...pretty cool....except that earlier in the a.m. LO was offline, came up for a few hours and went down which prompted me to hang out in the wireless cafe and post here.

I've seen quite a few Treo 600s being used by the vendors and some of the attendees. My T-Mobile coverage is spotty here and I can't get a data/phone signal from my room without having to step onto the balcony.

Right now, I just finished my 2nd cup of cappicunio(sp?) and am going for my 2nd caramel apple (to give me that extra kick for 3- hour time zone difference) in the product showcase area at the conference.

If anyone has any questions related to IBM/Lotus software / development, you can send me a PM up until Thursday evening and I'll see if i can get an answer while I'm at the conference.

Attached: Obligatory Treo 600 pictures taken during lunch break and of the attendees who are NOW in the wireless cafe instead of having their "you know whats" in breakout sessions

Lotus Notes is the absolute worst e-mail client I have ever used in my life. We are forced to use it at work and everyone hates it, rightfully so.

Hopefully one day they will switch to something like Outlook, which doesn't suck as bad.

Yeah, Notes has gotten a lot of bad press. We've been a Notes shop for a few years and people still gripe and want Exchange back. IBM is heavily pushing IBM Worklplace at this conference as a collaborative solution which is very web based and a lot more streamlined than the Notes FAT client.
