My brother pointed me in the direction of this program to remove noise/grain/uglies from digital pictures. It works with any digital picture (makes the noise on the 400 asa setting on my Cannon S230 disappear!). Anyhow, it is totally free!

They have a paid "professional" version, but the free one does everything I need. It's not like I'm going to print a billboard from a 620X480 image, right?

Using the automatic settings to clean the picture it's not perfect, but so much better!

I think you can do batch processing with it, too, but I'm not sure.

Boy, between Qset and neatimage, I can actually show people the pictures I take with my phone. Hooray!!
    Enjoy!

I was trying to put up the before and after to show you, but it keeps telling me the file is too big even though it's not. Hmm.

    I'll try it again later.

Try this one too. I've been using DC Enhance by MediaChance for a long time now. Great little piece of free software.

I first read this thread with my nose in the air as I have gotten quite fond of my fuzzy fotos... I have a picture blog of Treo600 photos where I post about 20 or more a week on Buzznet .

    So, I'm a professional - I don't need no stinkin' photo fixer!!

But, maybe I could look and not tell anybody. First I tried the Neatimage one and, honestly, I couldn't figure it out in 5 minutes so I tossed it.

Then I tried DC Enhance. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. DC Enhance rocks. I took a couple of the pix off the blog and then DC Enhanced them - under 1 minute start to finish. Here's a little sample page to show you.

Since I send the photos from Treo to blog directly via Snappermail, I wouldn't DC Enhance most of my pictures but I have to say that for those I want to use other places, they will definately be tossed into the DC Enhance first!

(I could probably achieve the same results with Paint Shop Pro but that's way too much touble. This little puppy is fast and easy. Thanks, Alli !!)

Susan - glad you like DC Enhance so much! My husband uses photoshop for some pretty detailed work, but he almost always runs the photo through DC Enhance first. It's a great little utility.

Oh, and thanks for posting the example pictures! The top one made a HUGE difference.

Thanks Alli for the link and Susan for the comparison! I think the software definately helps define the pics and worth a try.

    Hi,

The image on the left is before. The image on the right is after.

As for neatimage. Just follow the how to page. It seems complicated, but it's really only three steps.

Let me know which of the programs you like better.
