I'm getting a few pm's from people requesting the patch be emailed. I don't mind doing this but you need an email address which accept 5.7Mb files, ie, not Yahoo, Hotmail etc. If you are going to ask me just provide the email immediately.

Many ISPs have strict restrictions on email-message size. Many "mail paths" do, too.

Typically, one breaks large files into small pieces, encodes the pieces, then sends them individually.

You might want to restrict your message size to sub-1-megabyte.

Note - this type of file transfer was never a designed-in part of the current or historical email "system". It is better left to FTP and other file-sharing methods.

it won't go to hotmail, it's too big.

I'll provide a link later on this evening.
Check back in about 8 hours from this post or so.

    Regards

    T

    ps it wont be a permanent link either so if a few get it could they provide a link for a day or so it seems that everyone is little short sighted after they get what they need.....;

Check 'the bear is not dead' thread. It is kindly provided by Peter and is posted in an area where it is likely to remain on here for a while...

When I click on that link, it says "You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

But I'm logged in as a member when I get it.

    Any idea why? Thanks.....

Instead of worrying about unlocking, why not just purchase an unlocked unit from Cingular ?? I truely feel more providers should offer unlocked hardware. Give people an option to purchase hardware they want and give them quality service instead of offering $100 off on a phone, tying one up in a year + contract, and then charging a $200 fee to get out of the contract when the provided service is terrible. Oh Yea, then justify the outrageous termination fees due to the discount they gave you on your phone.....

It would be nice for someone to come up with a different business model. One that focuses on quality instead of .......

You're assuming I don't already own the phone. Which I do....

    Good advice on paper though.

i downloaded what is supposedly mol's patched.zip file from http://www.techwarelabs.com/communit...ic.php?p=38607
and went through the procedure without any problems. however, even with the new firmware, my phone is still locked. anything but an AT&T chip causes the "Enter SIM Unlock code" screen to appear. is the file available at techwarelabs a hoax? or is their summary of the procedure missing something?

so, i am still stuck with AT&T and am starting to get worried about my upcoming trip to the EU; can anyone offer some advice?

    Hi
I have checked the files and they are indeed the correct ones.
I also read the instructions and there is an error. The instrucion to use the 'update' file is not accurate, you should be launching the file called 'Firmware update' - The Icon on your handset will be abreviated so you may only see the first part of its name i.e'Firmw...'
This is the only file you are required to run...
Hundereds have used this file and all have been successful.
Good luck next time. Have a great trip to Europe too but pack your woolly socks :-)

I downloaded the patch an followed the instructions as they stood and it all worked fine, OrnageUK locked phone now unlocked.

The message ""Enter SIM Unlock code"" only relates to the SIM's PIN code, not whether the phone is locked or not.

Try a sim that doesn't require a PIN code, or get the PIN for the card you are trying.

If the phone was locked, it would say the sim is not allowed, or something along those lines.

first get the file from Techwarelabs site and place it on the SD card as suggested /PALM/LAUNCHER make sure its unzipped
then place the SD card in to your treo600 on the screen will appear some icons, click on the RomUpdate icon and follow the menu, this should do it,
I have done mine with no problems at all it runs with all the sim cards
    Share it all
