"Jan 14, 2004 (streetinsider.com via COMTEX) --Sprint PCS Group (NYSE: PCS) is seeing interest today on rumors Nextel (Nasdaq: NXTL) may be interested in making a bid for the company. Speculation of consolidation in the wireless sector, after renewed talk of a AT&T Wireless (AWE) Cingular Wireless deal, is the driving factor behind the NXTL/PCS rumor. Many analysts believe a deal between the two would make strategic sense."

Nextel makes zero sense they use totally different technologies and networks... Verizon however is CDMA same as Sprint so this would make sense. If you see Cing and ATT get togeather Sprtin Verizon sounds more likely.
