    The new issue of the Treo Developer's guide (v1.0 dated 22nd Dec 2003, available on the PalmOne website) makes it clear that the current firmwire does not support voice recording... quote:

    "Unfortunately, it is not possible for an application to capture the microphone input through an A/D converter (this might be fixed in future software upgrade)"

    The way the developer's guide is written it implies that the hardware is capable of voice recording, but the required routines do not (yet) exist in the operating system software.

    It's already been discussed in other threads that some developers like Audacity are expecting PalmOne to release a software upgrade/Rom update to allow their voice recording apps to work on the Treo600. The only uncertainty is to whether the update will only be apply to new Treo600's or if it will also be available to existing Treo600 users. There is some concern it will be the former...
