Slight update - now you can get (fast) flashing green or solid red.

I've chosen the fast flashing green as it's the actual alert that is intended in the SDK (kIndicatorAlertVoicemail !) - although it obviously wasn't implemented.

There isn't an obvious way to select different flashing colours - but I'm sure I will figure it out eventually!

In the meantime, the fast green is pretty noticeable and you can choose red.

If you want to register - please just register for the earlier version at palmgear.com - upgrades are free, so the reg code will work for this and future copies.

    Thanks
Works as advertised here (Sprint CDMA). Any chance of it working with incoming SMS messages? These are frequently used to signal a waiting email message.

    Thanks!

Thank you so much for writing this software!! I was using treoAlertManager and VolumeRocker, and TreoButler now replaces both of them, much cheaper, and I much prefer a LED warning that voicemail is waiting to repeated audio warnings. Thanks again!!

does not work with my gsm treo. too bad, think this could be a great app..

after removing treo butler, the 1-key still show an "envelope" instead of the standard "cassette". any idea how to get the "cassette icon" back?

I'd guess that going through a voicemail recieve and clear cycle should fix this. Pure guess though - I really can't understand why treobutler would change this at all!

Only possibility is that it's somehow linked to the alert I flag which flashed green light - does the app by any chance work if you tick the red LED box (the red light isn't even nominally linked to specific events..)

Hi, I've been following this thread with interest.

What is the latest version of this software, and where can one download it?

Should I download the latest version through a provided link, but also go through the PalmGear site to get the registration code?

I know several versions have been posted since the thread started, but can a fresh announcement be made? It would be appreciated.

    I've got a Sprint Treo600.

so, no chance of this working on cingular then eh? bleh.

    confusedvorlon,

I downloaded the "treo600butlerd_tester1.prc" version (after trying the "treo600butlerd.prc" version which didn't work for me) and it is now working just great! I set the VM LED to turn solid red, and it even works in conjunction with the new version (2.1) of Basejet, which can be configured to "fast blink" the LED green if you have received new email. This is fantastic for me because now, if I am away from my Treo or it is in my briefcase and the ringer turned off, I can know right away if I have received both new email OR a VM! Now if you could only get treobutler to get rid of the "event progress" messages that pop up after every event (not the register reminder- I will register as soon as I know the right place to go to do so (can't seem to find a clear indication anywhere in this thread)- but I understand this "test" version is supposed to do that! GREAT WORK!!

By the way, I have a Treo600 on Sprint.

Where can I download the latest version? Palgear only has 0.95. I have 0.96, but do not have the option to choose type/color of LED.

    Hi folks,

there are 4 versions on this thread

    1) treo600butlerd.prc
    about 5 comments later
    2) treo600butlerd.prc
    3) treo600butler_96b.prc
    and finally
    4) treo600butlerd_tester1.prc

3 should be the most reliable and functional. 4 is the same as 3 - but with event messages.

The idea is that if 3 doesn't work, but the treo is sending the right events, then 4 will show those. This would mean that there was some chance of 'tuning' 3 to make it work on the offending network.

    Apologies for the confusion!

My plan is to release a new version over the weekend (with a couple of extra features). The voicemail functionality should be based on 3.

Due to the (lack of) naming conventions, I'm not exactly sure what is working for whom - but am slightly concerned that there is a perplexing issue where 4 is working for some people, but not 3. Please let me know if this is the case!

If there is anyone for whom 3 does not work but any other version does - then please let me know!

    Thanks for being guinea-pigs.

Will this application play well with others (treohelper, treo alert mngr...) on a Sprint 300?

    Hi,

Just tried both the .96 and the tester1 versions, and I'm unable to get the LED part work. When I activate the "disable LED" function, the LED indeed is extinguished, but otherwise receiving a message from my voicemail doesn't do anything particular.

I've activated the "VM warning" and checked the "Solid Red LED warns VM" checkbox, then dialled my Treo 600 from a landline phone, and let the call be automatically diverted to the voicemail after a few rings. I then receive a notification from the voicemail, with a OK / Snooze / Go To choice, and if I tap "OK", the "Missed call" alert gets displayed, but the LED keeps blinking in green at the usual rate...

Did I do something stupid, or forget to do something important? Or just missunderstood the role of this function?

Here's the details about my config:

    1) does it work for you
No (not the LED part, at least, the rest is OK).

    2) GSM or CDMA
    GSM

    3) Network
    SFR (France)

    4) Do you normally get an envelope indicating voicemail in the top left of your phone app
No. I get a full-screen alert dialog (it's a SMS, in fact). Can take a screenshot of it if needed.

    5) anything else - e.g. other events that will reset the Voicemail warning
Tapping "Snooze" will display the blinking star at the top left of the screen...

Otherwise I have an Orange FR Treo 600 that has since been unlocked and updated to Firmware 2.09 / ROM 1.09-INT (and unlocked again), it's a hardware Rev A.

you've done the right things - if the tester version gives you nothing, it means that your network doesn't inform of VM in the way I'm checking for.

    Too bad (for me)!

Thanks anyway, and keep up the good work!

Using 0.96 on a Sprint phone with Verichat installed (1.90b). After Verichat receives a message in standby mode (comes in over SMS) it changes the color of the LED. After it releases control of the LED, it defaults back to the standard setup, not the one dictated by TreoButler.

BTW I bought TB just because it's so cool. Even if it doesn't work perfectly.

Just a thought, but what about an alternating red / green?

That would be sure to get someone's attention!
  16. #56
I'll second that idea. Alternating flash red/green.

    Hi Kurt,

TreoButler just sets the LED in the app, on a reset and when VM happens. This means that if other apps change the settings then they can 'take over'. Not sure what the best solution would be - I could get treobutler to 'fight' the settings when each app closes - but suspect that will lead to more problems (it will stop other apps sending LED signals). Probably the best thing is to leave as it is.

    Thanks for purchasing.
Re alternating red/green - I doubt that that would be possible other than by repeatedly setting from one to the other which would be very bad for the processing/battery/etc - so don't expect this any time soon!

    Cheers

When I get a voicemail, TreoButler changes the LED to red like it should, but when the VM goes away, it goes back to blinking green (which I have turned off in Treo Butler).

I registered "treobutlerd.prc" but I still got a NAG screen after a VM arrived.

for me the ultimate "Led-app" would be this:

Use the led in different ways. I would like the led to be off at all times except when:
    - There is no signal
    - I have new messages
    - I have missed calls

When one of the above events occur, diferent colors and different blinking speeds could tell me which kind of alert I have.

This way, when I come out of a meeting, I can immediately see if I have messages. My voicemail doesn't use an envelope, as I'm on KPN network in the Netherlands. They just send me an SMS when I have new VM.

    Is this possible?
