I know how to turn off the wireless function.

I tried using the same button to turn off the unit and I tried pressing the hard button next to the "mail button".

These buttons just turn off the screen and don't actually power down the unit. The alarm still comes on and plays the alert.

    Any ideas?

    Funny...

Before others tell you to RTFM, here it is.

Press and hold the button next to the antenna to turn on/off wireless function. That's where the wireless on/off switch is on my GSM version so I am hoping the Sprint version is not that different.

If you go on a plane, how to turn it completely off, so reminder alarms don't start going off during the takeoff roll..............

Slide the switch to "vibrate" mode!

This has been discussed in other threads.

You need to put it on "silent", under prefs/sound turn vibrate off if you feel so inclined.

And explain to the flight crew if asked that the phone portion is off, and only the PDA is on. Fortunately the phone says prominantly "Wireless Mode Off".

PDAs are allowed on plains so you should not have any issues.

    Perform the following steps:

1> Put the unit on the floor.
2> Stomp on it a few times.
3> Pick it up and pocket it.
4> Pat yourself on the back for being smarter than the rest of the world .

    Here is the best solution...

    1. While holding down the button next to the antenna, push and release the reset button on the back.

    2. When the Palm logo appears, release the top button.

    3. When the unit asks if you want to delete all data, press up on the 5 way switch.

    4. Carefully surround the unit with bubble wrap.

    5. Gently place it into an appropriately sized box.

    6. Place my address on the box together with an appropriate amount of postoge.

    6. Drop it off at any post office.

I assure you that you will never be bothered with trying to turn it off ever again!

    Hehehe. Gotta love it.

Yea, the best combo for appearing to turn it "completely off" is to....

    1) Hit the top button to turn off wireless mode.
    2) Switch the switch to vibrate.
    3) Go into "Sound Preferences" and turn vibrate off under "sound mode off"
    4) Hit the light button (with the little sun on it) to turn off the screen and lock the unit.

Like mentioned above, it's a Palm, so it's never really off. But all you have to really worry about is the wireless. And since you are the captain, SkyNazi, just don't kick yourself off the plane.
