    Goto an app then menu > edit > keyboard usually works...

    gfunk - thanks - i forgot all about the virtual keyboard on my Treo 650! I was looking for an "=" (equals) sign and didn't know how to do it.

    You can also press Opt + S + Alt to bring up a drop-down list that includes "=."
