I'm making an assumption here, that Palm OS 5 works like most modern operating systems and includes the concept of a process. so, please let me know if this is off base. is there a program available that shows what processes are running or maybe what processes are waiting for events to occur?

Actually, in PalmOS (including 5) there is only one process running, the active process (I'm not quite sure how pTunes does it's background play thing. Probably hardware). When you start an app, Launcher stops running. When you return to the Launcher, your app stops running.

It's only through good state caching, speedy startup, and other supporting services (alert managers, etc) that makes PalmOS look like it is running more than one thing at a time.
