I've had my GSM treo for almost 3 weeks now and have had a total of 7 automatic resets (crashes), 4 of which occured while I'm in Blazer (very annoying) and 3 have occured while the treo was in the "Phone" app. Haven't read here of anyone else experiencing this.
I've noticed that 2 of the resets occured when I was in a low signal strength area and either trying to make a call or attempting to receive a call and the third one happened last night after I checked my email w/Snapper then hit the phone hard key, set the treo down on my desk and a couple of seconds later...it reset and turned the radio back on.

Anybody know what's going on here?

My device has been resetting when I try to run AOL Instant Messenger or when I'm have the Phone app running or when I toggle between programs. Sometimes its a matter of a hard reset to fix problem. Seldom a soft reset has fixed problem. I think sometimes the Treo resets when it loses GPRS signal. It is annoying. I wonder if downloading that patch that upgrades the firmware would help our respective reset issues??

    The lastest crash:
    A crash occurred on 12/16/03 at 11:03 a.m. while running "<unknown application>.
DataMgr.c,Line9529,index out of range. I have kept my Treo fully charged.

Are you using Cingular Treo on T-Mobile's network?

    I'm using a Cingular 600 on Cingular's network.
I notice that it does seem to happen when toggling between programs. It doesn't just do it out of the blue. I for some reason have a habit of always hitting the phone hard key when finished using any app and then the backlight hard key to turn off.
I don't use AOL's instant messenger due to issues that seem to pop up all over the place with others, I use Verichat but its been rock solid.

Looks like the problem is more prevalent than what I originally thought. Are we (collectively) keeping hush/hush because some (including myself) are using the Treo on the T-Mobile network and are not prepared to go "without" by asking for another replacement or in my case biding time until the legit T-Mobile version is ready and available to public?

What were the "majic" words you used to get a replacement? Did you get the replacement directly from Handspring? How long did it take you to get the rreplacement?

Like I said, I'm not using a Cingularized 600 on T-Mo's network and I haven't called HS yet to question or ask for a replacement. I hate the thought of doing that as I don't know what they're gonna send me. I don't think they have been out long enough to have an inventory of refurbs but I don't want that to happen!
It hasn't been that big of a deal, it's just that it happens and I wonder why and because it's annoying!

My phone (sprint cdma) would soft reset every once in awhile. I found out, after much frustration, that this would occur only when my girlfriend called. That's right, her calling me with her cell phone would cause my phone to soft reset everytime. I called sprint about this, and they were just as baffled as I was. They recommended trial and error, that I hard reset and install all my applications one at a time while calling my phone using my g/f's cell. Long story short, the problem, I think, was that I replaced voicemail in my favorites with her cell phone #. Anybody else have this problem? Has anybody else used the first favorites box as a different number?

I replaced the default SprintPCS Vmail, as the first favorites box, with my office Vmail number. I've had no problem over 3 months now. A mystery!

Very Interesting! I just noticed that if I was in Blazer and I got a call from home, the GSM 600 I am using would soft reset. Checking through the fourms, I have found this thread. Sure enough! I _have_ replaced the Voicemail entry in my speed dial with 'home'!

I now am trying with voicemail back where it started from

Still resets! Time to try a backup and a hard reset! More results to come later.

OK... Hard reset and then go into Blazer. When I then call up the phone, it soft resets. Sure sounds like a Blazer/Phone problem. Remember, this is with no 3rd party software at all.

I've had Phone, Calendar, Pictures, and I think Calculator do a soft reset. Happens at least every other day. (Sprint)

The error has always been in: Emul68KMain.c.

I've just deleted Zap, Rally, Filez, Klondike, JpegWatchLight. That leaves me with just 7 3rd party apps. ( and 18.5M free

If I still get a crash, I'll let you know.

BTW, check out this cool app from Boeing! And it looks like they like the Treo 270!
