I have Cingular branded Treo that I bought directly from Handspring. I couldn't access the network settings.....locked by carrier. Network settings all reference "T-Mobile" not "Cingular". Wireless Data group said my phone had already been provisioned for T-Mobile Unlimited Internet Access. I am still able to access Desktop Interface for @sidekick.trial.danger.com but not @tmail.com.

I explained that I was still able to access the Desktop Interface and Wireless Data said that it is up to Danger (Sidekick data back end provider) to disable the Desktop Interface. Our conversation ended with him telling me to contact the carrier of the phone (Cingular) or Handspring to get the unlock code. Wireless Data said that although they support the Treo 600, their support is limited to just providing (at least in my case) the APN of "internet3.voicestream.com". I explained to Wireless Data that the Network setting is locked down.

Based on the info posted in TreoCentral, I highly doubted the information provided by Wireless Data group rep, so I called back 5 minutes later. While I was holding on the line to talk to another Wireless Data rep, my Treo "miraculously" was able to access the Internet ---- hmmm, isn't that something?? I suspect that the Wireless Data rep flipped a switch at the last minute to fix the problem.

    It pays to be persistent

Who knows? You are right. I noticed T-Mo settings in the Cingular Treo 600 Prefs\Network section too. The Internet settings are locked but I was advised to create another service (call it tmobile or something) and edit WAP to: wap.voicestream.com and make sure the T-zones IPA was 216.155.165.50...no DNS changes. But...my GPRS is still hit-or-miss. Not good.

    I agree it's on-again off-again. Thanks for the additional T-Mobile settings.
