Not sure if you will be attempting to port your number from AT&T to Sprint. Be advised that the feds have demanded answers from AT&T, as more than half of the complaints they've received to date involve AT&T; most reports indicate AT&T is proving to be the biggest loser per LPN. (see US GSM board at this site for related threads.) As for Sprint, some folks have been pleased with their set-up; others are pulling their hair out. Best bet = let your tootsies do the walking, and visit a local Sprint store, make notations of who says what, and keep your fingers crossed.

    Best of luck!

Yea.. Good olde FedEx AM morning driver just dropped it off at 10:30AM.

Called Sprint to activate phone (took about 20 mins and had a sales rep that tried to upsell each and every bell-and-whistle possible)

Once I told her I wanted the

    $35 300 minute plan
    $15 PCS Vision professional plan
    $4 equipment replacement plan

she was taken aback and stopped trying to upsell

(until the very end when they offered me another Sprint long distance plan for my landline telephone.. which I was not interested in).

    So far so good.
(just waiting for phone to finish activation sequence)

I have to credit Amazon with accurate stock status and rapid shipping. ..have never had a problem with Amazon.com

(When I last purchased my T-mobile black and white SideKick last year at the same time.. there was also a large $$ Amazon rebate. After several weeks it came back from rebate fulfillment company as invalid. I emailed Amazon customer support and they apologized and they were able to expedite rebate within a week.)

I'll be very interested in your impressions as a Sidekick user. I'm out of town and won't be able to get mine until tomorrow.

I ordered mine on Nov. 30th. It shipped on Friday, Dec. 5th. The FedEx tracker says it's on the truck for delivery, so I'm expecting my doorbell to ring anytime now...

I was expecting a month delay when I ordered, but have been pleasantly surprised!

Arg mine should be at my house any minuite. I gotta wait till I get home from work at 5... blah... i hate you all hahaha

FedEx didn't deliver today. Their tracker said it was on the truck for delivery, but it was updated at the end of the day to say it would be delivered later. Glad I waited around for nothing!!

argh.. I knew it would happen.. new toy doesn't work

After going through the voice activation, PHONE functions worked within 5 minutes.

Activation specialist said that it would take up to 4 hours for PCS Vision to be active.

Waited, and waited and waited.. all afternoon. no DATA

Keep on getting "Connecting to Sprint Provisioning", then "error 67: Registration error: check your username and/or password"

by 3pm, started searching the message boards for any setup issues.. tried a few soft and hard restarts

by 4pm went to Sprint store and asked her help.. tech that was there offered to take the phone for an hour and he said he will reset it via connecting to a cable.

by 6pm, came back and he said that he is unable to do anything as the vision network is undergoing system wide maintenance. He said to try on Tuesday morning

(starting to loose confidence in Sprint.. can't believe that I would ever say that T-mobile network connectivity is better)

8pm, decided to call Sprint tech support and they did not mention any sort of network problem and they recommended to reset my PCS vision password and username. No effect 1 hour later (One would think that telephone tech support would have confirmed that there was a systemwide network problem)

day 2, 6AM still unable to get past "error 67: registration error",
1 out of 5 times get a different error "error 3000: data service is unavailable in this area"

8AM, called tier 2 support and got recorded message that they are doing a system wide upgrade and they are unable to make any changes to accounts and passwords"

9AM, did some more searching and found sprintusers.com and they also have posts that Vision network is under system-wide maintenance. (would rather believe fellow experienced, message board people than hourly Sprint retail and telephone store employees)

I'm primarily interested in Treo 600 as remote email and checking my eBay auctions.. the phone functions on Treo 600 certainly better than Sidekick.. but that's not saying much.

I always missed being able to import and sync Outlook info to my sidekick and was hopeful that Treo 600 as PDA would be useful

Treo camera is a gimmick and I don't think I'll use it after the first week.

Screen seems nice and bright (again, compared to black and white Sidekick). Having had to walk down 23 flights of stairs in a pitch black New York hi-rise during blackout of 2003.. it would have been a decent last-resort flashlight.

Having had a T-mobile sidekick I have built up a certain tolerance to not being able to access data network and/or having weak signal.. but if problem with Sprint isn't fixed in next few days.. will certainly decide that Treo doesn't improve my network connectivity needs and will return item and get back $600 from Amazon..

...and will just have to live in black and white sidekick world.

ARG. Mine wont connect either. I had mine provisioned lastnight at 5:30. Waited hours, nothing. Tried in the morning.... "Your account is not autorized to make calls to this phone #" -happend for any number I dialed. Ive tried soft and hard resets -no luck. I called up sprint about a half hour ago, the rep said the phone wasnt showing up as connecting to any towers. She said I should first try taking it to a sprint store then if that doesent work I'll have to return it.

I really like this thing besides the services not working.....
I dont want to have to return it to amazon.com and wait another month then loose out on rebates.

    NOT FAIR!!

For everyone complaining, it's not a problem with the Treo 600, it's Sprint. I tried switching over to a Sanyo VM4500 last night and am also unable to connect to Vision.
  10. #50
Well im not trying to complain. I love this thing, i just want service. I agree with you, sprint was undergoing matience lastnight that i think screwed up a lot of things...... Not cool, I guess all I can do is go into a sprint store and talk to the techs untill I get sick of trying.

    edit:

Hey slffl , have you tried making regular phone calls with it ? Did you get an error when you did ? What did it say ?

Also, I can call sprints *2 customer solutions -it actually works and goes through using the treo. If the problem is the treos connection/antenna, how is it possible im making a frigging call through it to sprint ?

Yeah something is definately up with sprint here, maybe I get them to re provision me.

    Edit:
Ok, I just got off my treo with another sprint rep. He said due to the matinence -new activations have been taking longer. Then he said that my phone was not registering my area correctly, so just as I was hoping- he re provisioned me. I suggest all that have the same problem dial a *2 on your phone and let them know you are calling WITH your treo. If all goes well i should be up in a few hours. Sprints not so bad if you find a good rep like i finally did.

Also note that vision is having lots of problems right now due to the matinence as reported by sprint.

    Good Luck

Yeah, I can make regular calls. Besides Vision, the only other thing messed up is the one button voicemail doesn't work, which I think may have gotten messed up when the phone was provisioned. I'll have to try re-provisioning.

    Similar experiences here.

You can tell this isn't going to go smoothly when Sprint finishes with you and drops you to an automated system to "verify your contract" - and that system doesn't recognize your phone #.

I've been told that everything is "OK" with my account but I cannot use the phone & can't even log into the sprintpcs web site. Something tells me they really ARE having computer troubles as posted earlier.
Rest assured they will be able to charge my account without any problem as well.

At least the PDA half is working reasonably well, much punchier than my old Vx !

day 3, still no vision access

9AM EST, called Sprint tier 2 direct (866-206-4108)
They confirmed that they are still having a network problem with nationwide provisioning system.

I asked if we could try to manually edit info (using ##3282)

..but he said that they were told in morning memo that it would not be wise to adjust customer's settings until system is completely back up and running

At least he was able to confirm my correct vision username.

He was also able to confirm that while they my account name valid, that my new Treo hasn't moved beyond step 1 of initial setup (has never ever initially talked to their network)

Said to check back in another 24 hours ::sigh::

Good thing, they have that 14-day return rule.

In contrast, while my Tmobile sidekick does not always get a strong signal depending on where I am in the state.. at least I never had to deal with a multi-day network outage.

OMG, this is the first vision outage i've seen in the 1.5 years I've had it. You just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I urge you to go back to the great service that T-mobile offers.

Unable to verify the contract with the recording.

I called later and did it, using my old Sprint number from years ago - they were setting mine up as a renewal (hope this doesn't screw up my rebates).

I'm also doing 14 day evaluation vs the Sidekick.

Certainly no setup headaches like this w the Sidekick, at least in my case.

The sprint rebate certificate on www.amazon.com indicates "Mail the original certificate completed in its entirety...". I presume this means an original rebate form. And later says "NO PHOTOCOPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED". I did not receive an "original certificate". Did anyone else? If not do you know if a print out from their site will suffice? Thanks.

It would have been nice if Amazon included the rebate, but no. You can easily pick one up from a sprint store though, I did yesterday.

Still no voice or vision for me....

i've never gotten so stressed out just trying to get a damn telephone.

i seriously may send this thing back to amazon if they **** me off any more.
