Reading the internet from my Treo 600 is awesome fun. But I want to publish online too!

The built-in web browser Blazer lets me update some web sites. But the text-entry field appears to be limited to a few characters (perhaps 255? something like five sentences it seems sadly).

I use Movable Type (http://www.movabletype.org/) to run a few different weblogs (http://www.links.net/ etc). Ideally, I'd like to get a Palm application, a client that could post directly to various MT sites. Something like Kung-Log maybe (http://www.kung-foo.tv/kunglog.php).

There's a few blogging apps out for the Palm, but they all use Java and that seems to crash the Treo 600. And none of them offer image upload. Here's some discussion of the options so far:

Weblog updating with image upload would be the killer app on my Treo 600! It would make the T6 a great tool for roving reporters.

I wrote myself a script that I use to post images to my photoblog (which is MovableType) from the Treo. I e-mail them to a certain address and it automatically posts them.

You need e-mail aliases and procmail running on the web hosting to use it, but it shouldn't be hard to adapt it to do what you want.

I can send it to you if you want.

Aloha Justin, nice blog site. I still haven't quite gotten mines ready yet. Still setting up my Treo after 1 month -LOL. When I saw the rainbow I thought you were in Hawaii (I didn't notice your listing it on Treo before). We went there a few years ago -- my dream destination, stayed in Lahania Shores and loved it!

A little off subject, so please pardon me my fellow geeks, I still get excited about Hawaii oh yeah and my Treo.

I've setup two textamerica sites. It works perfectly. You can take a picture and attach it to an email. The subject of your email is the title of the entry and the body is the text of the entry. You simply send the email to your weblog's specific address: weblogname.password@tamw.com. Couldn't be easier!

It's amazing what can happen when one actually reads and follows directions.

BTW, don't know if they do this for all newbies, but I just got an Email from Textamerica informing me that one of my pics was used and publicized, you can see it at:

    http://christmas.textamerica.com/

I hate to sound slow, but how do you put the title and description into the actual blog? Mine's isn't showing up on the site like the other Blog sites here.

    Title = subject of email
    Description = body of email

At least, that works for me!

    Thanks Dune,

I guess you send yours through E-mail. I've been sending mines through the Pictures share process.

I'll try that and see what happens.

    Update:

    It worked.

Yeah, if you use the share function you won't get a title because there is no subject line.

can we post .mov clips at textamerica? i tried sending a short clip but it didn't show up...
i read that textamerica is supporting video clips from those new phones w/the video feature...i.e. nokia, sanyo, etc.
obviously the treo doesn't have a video cam. so i tried taking a test clip for 10 seconds at 160 x 120 or so w/my digital cam and emailing it to my blog from the computer. didn't work

    I suggest you check out

    http://new.bastish.net/cgi-bin/mfop2/index.cgi?rm=about

You register yoour sender email address and your blog info with them. Then when you send them emails, they match up your sender email and post your text body and any jpg attachments to your blog. It's excellent-- very reliable and customizable.

(ps... you have to send emails+attachments using the pop client on your treo, NOT Sprint's lame picture share system).

For me, I already have Movable Type in place and didn't want to really use textamerica.com and have two sites going.

mfop2 was a dream come true, it's so effortless once you have everything set-up!

Me too -- it works great from Snappermail.

I have some macros set up at mofp2 to help -- most important ones are "pichere" will insert the next picture I attach in an email; "thetitle" is, well, the title phrase; and "brbr" will insert HTML of two line breaks....

My MT blog (not necessarily Treo-related) here: http://www.scoopman.com

metsfan, I sent you both a private message here as well as an email using this site and haven't gotten a response to either, so I'll ask here...

I'm really interested in the script you created for MovableType. I have Procmail and mail aliases accessible to me, and would love to maintain my own photo blog instead of having to rely on a third-party site.

If you could send it with instructions, or upload and post here, that would be great.

    Thanks!

I created a blog site for myself formatted specifically for posting and viewing from my Treo 600:

    http://www.trip23.com/mobileshots/

I use VSFTP to upload pictures. The site was created with ASP.Net and uses a MS Access database to store the entries.

I can post to textamerica using Picture Share, but of course, I can't enter a subject line and text. And it automatically puts the "You've got Share Mail" crap in the comment line. And I've tried HS Mail, but for some reason, it won't post to the site. I can post by email from a computer with no problems...but not HS Mail. Any ideas?

I use snapper mail with no problems......
They were changing to a faster server this week (seems like longer) and things were a bit messed up. Try them again and see if it works.

Yup...no problem with Snappermail. Still won't post with HS Mail. Any ideas why it would work with one and not the other? I just downloaded Snappermail just for this purpose, and I'm not quite ready to commit to it. It would be nice if I could use HS Mail.
    Thanks.
