    To all,

Have you tried pushing a button after adding the new graphics? It puts a white frame around the button as you press it - not too pretty. Anyone find out which resource is displaying that?

Also, I added new text and kept the magenta background - when I pasted into the resource the phone app now displays the pink as if it's no longer transparent. Wierd.

And one more thing, even though I pasted in the #1 for the dial pad with new text, it did not display at all, but I assume this is because of the envelope icon being displayed by the sprint override. Anyone know how to get around that?

I'd hate to have to make people delete that envelope resource in the carrier logo resource just to see the default tape reel logo (and my modified #1) in the phone pad.

    D.

I noticed the same things with the transparency and the #1 image.

For the transparency, it looks like it is updated the trans. setting when you save to 255 instead or the default that was 1280. I am going to look into that setting, because I think the numbers coincide with specific colors. 255 sounds like 0-255, where 255 is usually white. I tried white though, and it still wasn't transparent. Working on it, we'll get it...

That #1 image is for another version of this phone. Ours must be in here somewhere.

I'll release the files when I finish.

I found a workaround for the transparency issue...just use the center portion of the button as a layer behind the text in the text image.

I'm still gonna try to figure out the transparency thing, but for now this works and it lets me use drop shadows too.

Any luck on finding the #1 image with the envelope?

I also noticed the same thing. The work around is to just use white and discard the pink. The number files still use pink and their transparency is set for pink. I did this and it did not effect the button graphic at all. I did notice that there are 3 different button graphics used for the "Favorits". 1 for used buttons, 1 for selected and 1 for unused. Hopoe this helps. Hack away...

That #1 image is in the Sprint Carrier file, 1301. The envelope is a Sprint customization to replace the Tape Reel.

Excellent. It's on now. I'm gonna finish it up.

I just accidentally found out that Trans 255 is Black, so they do relate to specific colors. That creates a little bit of a new problem in that it seems to always set to 255, so it you want to use black, you have to use a dark dark grey just off black (at least till a solution is found). It looks black on screen though.

The other thing is that I am doing all the graphics as 16 bit for a better color palette and deleting the 8 bits. Maybe if you just duplicate over the 8 bit, it will hold the settings.

And I swear to god, if you charge more than $10 USD for this skinning app, I will hunt you down and stab you in the face...

Ok so not really. But it will **** me off enough that I'll be very angry while entering my credit card info.

Anyone want to post your phone button image files?

OMGoodness, it's finished and it looks AWESOME. The phone looks much sleeker now.

I am at work so I need a little time before I can upload all the images...

    Can't wait!

OK, I figured out that if you want to have the sprint envelope, you paste it into 1301 in the phone.prc app and delete it in the phone_XXXX.prc file or paste the new text overlay with envelope into the sprint phone_XXXX.prc file.

    I did the former.

I still havent figured out how to handle the button pressed image - working on that.

    Here's an updated screenshot...

BTW, 1351 and 1353 are the down button images.

NOTE: This was done on a Sprint Treo600. I'm sure it's very similar on the other versions, but I don't have one so I can't say for sure.

Here you go. I was going to just post the .prc files but I don't know if there is any personal info in the code anywhere, so I'm passing out the files.

If someone wants to host these or offer them in a ZIP file, that's cool with me.

Quick disclaimer: I assume no responsibility for anyone's use of these files or instruction (be careful and backup your files).

Basically, first you need to follow the instructions on http://www.jakepratt.com/ to use Filez and PRCedit to get access to your files.

Open your Phone.prc file in PRCedit.

    Open the bitmaps dropdown menu.

Edit the following bitmaps, replacing them with the linked images. To do this, you need to do a copy/paste, which you can either do from a paint program or probably your web browser window. The images are named according to the number and name in the prc.

IMPORTANT: by default, these graphics appear in the "8-bit" column. We need these graphics in the "16-bit" column to look right. Check the 16-bit column, and use the same width and height settings as in the 8 bit column. Edit the 16 bit and paste (CRTL-V) the correct image in the empty window, saving all changes. Uncheck the 8-Bit box. It will give you a warning message about losing the 8-bit but it's cool.

Do this for all the images and for the one in Phone_SPCS.prc.

ALSO IMPORTANT! : Make sure to UNCHECK the Copy Protect and Read Only boxes before saving. If you don't, you will need to hard-reset.

    In Phone.prc:

    1302
    1303
    1304
    1305
    1306
    1307
    1308
    1309
    1310
    1311
    1312
    1350
    1352

(1301 in the Phone.prc is for the other model phones with the reel on the 1. You could use the 1301 file here, or edit your own with the reel).

    In Phone_SPCS.prc:
    1301

1350 and 1352 updated, the first ones had some residue on the borders....if you already downloaded them, make sure to get them again.

Can someone post a finished phone file with the changes already made to the keypad?
  16. #36
FYI - 1351 and 1353 are the down button images, I replaced and tested mine with some darker ones for effect. Worked great.

I do not believe that to be the case. If the original file came from ROM, it is a template file and the phone can not write to it. Posting the PRC should be safe. That is another reason why the carrier specific files were created, they are used to circumvent the Handspring files and allow carrier customization. Post the prc.

    My 2 cents...

    Here's my finished AQUA SKIN!

It includes a custom carrier logo (with envelope for the phone app) and the replacement phone app itself.

I'm starting a Phone Skin library over at treo600essentials.com as well but for now you can download it here...

    Here's the phone skin preview:

    Derek,

Maybe I need to wait a bit more, but that link is dead.

Yep, should've waited. Sorry. It's live now.
