the guy before that said he flashed his Treo to an updated version via SD card makes me think. When (and if) T-Mobile FINALLY comes out with a Treo 600, are us early adopters gonna be able to just get a SD card from T-Mobile (or somewhere) are flash our Treo 600s to the "official" T-Mobile version. I see no need to do this yet, as my Treo works with no problems on T-Mobile, but it does make me wonder..................

I'm from Italy and after few days of use, I found that often my TREO can't receive any calls.
The only way to let him work was to make a reset

So I wrote to Handsping and they sent me a firmware upgrade
Now the situation is little bit better, but still unacceptable for such expensive product (In Italy it cost 899 EURO)

I wrote to Handpring again, but they didn't reply me yet

In what form was the firmware upgrade? CD or SD card? Did they include instructions?
What is the Firmware/software readings now?
    Treo 600 Rocks!

hi foxtrot, I'm from Italy too so I'm interested in your experience. can you tell us the firmware release after the upgrade? why the situation is still unacceptable?

    thank you.

    ciao Matro
as I wrote in my original post, the firmware release after the upgrade is:

    Firmware: 02.04
    Software: Treo600-1.07
    Hardware: B

I received the upgrade from Handspring support by email
They sent me also the instructions on how the make the upgrade
Basically to upgrade the firmware it's necessary to copy an executable file into an SD card, insert the SD into the TREO and them make an hardware reset. This will let the executable file to "autostart" and upgrade the unit.
As I understood this is the only way to upgrade the firmware and/or the software

I can say the situation is still unacceptable because I still have problems. My company bought two TREO 600 at the same time, and they both have the same problems
Often the phone can't make or receive any calls. The signal stenght say there is full signal, (and this is true, because we check with standard mobile phone), but if somebody call me the carrier say my phone is OFF.
The only way to let him work again is to turn off and again on the wireless mode.
Sometime it's necessary to make a reset, otherwise it can't work
This situation is the same for the two units we have, so it's a concrete problem that Handspring MUST solve ASAP.
The only thing I didn't tried is to use the TREO with different carrier (we have TIM for both units).

Finally two days ago, after several emails and phone calls Handspring support sent me (by email) the latest upgrade
    Now the firmware version is:

    Firmware: 02.08
    Software: Treo600-1.09
    Hardware: B

I'll check this new release, since it should correct all the wireless problems

Would you be willing to share the 'upgrade'. I am sure quite a few of us would like to upgrade our phones just to have the latest firmware. Also this might be one way to 'unlock' the AT&T or for that matter all other locked Treo 600s. Theoretically speaking I see no reason why the phone should not unlock after the upgrade. That is unless the firmware upgrade sent by Handspring is the locked version firmware, which is very unlikely I think.

How do you install a new firmware? Can anyone contact Handspring and get a new firmware.

I installed the new upgrade (available on the above thread). No problems at all!
    New info:
    Firmware: 2.08 (previously 2.01)
    Software: Treo600-1.09-INT (previously 1.05-INT)
    Hardware: B

SMS is now 1.01 (previously 1.0) Mail is now 1.01 (don't know previous). Voice quality is noticeably better
All my stuff was back after I HotSync'd (update causes hard reset).
