I apologize if this has been covered before, I've been searching forums and Google all day with no luck ...

Does anyone know of any software capable of resizing actual JPG files? I want to be able to send off emails with photos from my digital camera, however at around 3mb they are just too large to send in any practical manner.

I'm hoping there's some software somewhere that could resize the photos, write them back to my SD card so I can send out the smaller versions. I realize that this sort of functionality may just be beyond the capabilities of the Treo, or PalmOS itself.

    thanks

Aha! I've found something that SEEMS to do the job, DarkRoom. Unfortunately the 'edit' features reset the Treo, but import/export seems to allow for the resizing functions! Yay.

Are you able to actually save the modfied images? I can't figure out how to get them to the card or to RAM. Sometimes I think I've saved a picture, then when I leave the app and look in the Treo' picture view mode, it's not there.

What frustrating about this is that I actually did succeed in resizing and saving an image one time, but have been unable to retrace my steps.

This is highly exasperating, to say the least. This is the one app I would pay a ransom for if it just worked as advertised (it's ostensibly written with Sony handhelds in mind). I would even pay the $16 registration if it did nothing else but resize and save the images easily. Help!

I use Realjpeg, you can find it at www.3gupload.com and it's FREE.

Does anyone know of some Treo 600 compatible image editing programs other than darkroom? (i.e. resize on the treo) Just was not sure if anything else was discovered.

I couldn't find Realjpeg in 3gupload. Do you have a more direct link?

I'm sort of bummed about this, kind of wanted to give this software a try.

I think treeo was looking for something to resize JPEGs ON the Treo itself. Reajpeg runs on Windows.

Yes -- something to resize images ON the Treo itself. DarkRoom did the trick.

No matter though, I discovered that my camera (Optio S4) actually has a feature to resize/re-compress to a new copy of the photo on the camera itself! I can perform the resizing on the camera, drop in the card and they're ready to email, etc.

I too have the Pentax Optio ... and am very happy for the resize feature on the camera. Makes emailing from my Treo 650 much more pleasant.

However I also know that this is a unique feature and not all cameras have it.

So I'm bumping this thread... are there any other graphic apps for the Palm that can take a large image and resize it to to a smaller (640x480?) copy?

In the meantime I'm checking out Darkroom/JPGEditor.

    Thanks for the tip!

I recently found AcidImage Pro, which does exactly what I want: resizes photos before sending them via email! (amongst a ton of other features)
