Thanks Bob!! The case looks nice. I would be interested to know if you have any problems with the phone auto-answering while in the case like the Vaja case people are reporting. I'm waiting for my PF case to arrive... likely over the weekend. Even if the case needs a slight after-market modification to avoid pressure on the space key, I agree it's a fine looking case!

    Hi jaytee

I've had no problems with it answering calls, in fact I didn't know it was an issue with any of the cases available until I re-read a few of the case threads/reviews on here earlier today. The magnetic closure strap on my case is quite generous, to give you an idea there is a gap of maybe 3mm between the strap and the hotsync port. Also the flip cover extends down past the bottom edge of the Treo by a similar amount. I can grab the flip cover and move it up or down in the hotsync port <------> ariel direction by a few mm without the magnetic closure moving at all, so there is free play available which seems to stop it putting pressure on any of the keys. I hope that makes sense, not sure I've explained it right!

The Sprint phones have the little "bulge" by the earpiece for shielding. I see that the phones in the pictures and on the website don't appear to have this bulge. Any idea whether the fit will be affected adversely by the Sprint bulge?

Any actual experiences with the Piel Frama & Sprint?

Very sexy case, Sideshowbob. What I don't quite get despite your great photos is how you handle the Treo in this case while talking on the phone, or even while using it as a PDA. Do you fold the flip back sharply and hold the flap and the unit in your palm? - Is this comfortable doing this, even while on the phone? Would this eventually crease the leather on top? I photo actually talking on the phone would be great in helping me (er...Santa rather) to push that 'order' button.

If you don't bend the flap down, and instead let it fly loose, when you are on the phone (sans earpiece) wouldn't it end up flopping onto the top your head and look just like a really odd combover? <g>

    Hi,

I just received my Piel Frama, and it's going great so far. I ordered it Tuesday, received a confirmation email that it would be sent out on Wednesday, and I received the case yesterday (Thursday) - I live in London.

I chose the black/tan case, and it fits perfectely and very nicely with the phone. No problem at all, it's worth the money (although a bit expensive...)

Could you post a photo somewhere of the 'bulge' please so I can see what you mean. In the UK we only get the GSM/GPRS version not the CDMA which I assume accounts for the difference?

    Hi dakshah

Yes, I fold the flap backwards behind the phone and use it like that, whether I'm using it as a phone or a pda. I suppose that's the same as with any flip case. I have a Sena case for my Axim which I use that way and although the leather does soften up in that area it is not noticeable visually. Leather seems to hold up well in this respect so I assume this case will be no different.

I'm not sure about posting a photo of me.......I will get you a photo of the phone in my hand with the flip back over the weekend if that helps though.

    LOL

    If there's one thing I don't need it's a combover, believe me!

Although I think you may have happened upon the next generation of convergence device there....for all those baldies among us...

My case arrived this morning. Very speedy considering I ordered it on the 2nd and today is the 5th! It is, like the Piel Frama case I had before, a well crafted case. All the cutouts and holes line up perfectly (after mashing the treo in).

I have discovered if the case is closed _tightly_ the space bar problem noted in the Vaja case thread occurs also with this case. As someone noted earlier, there is quite a bit of give or slack space in the magnetic closure strap. If you just close it without trying to tighten it ip, the phone seems to answer just fine.

Another note from the Vaja thread that I agree with is that this is really a software issue. The phone should have an option to turn off the spacebar answer function.

    Hi jaytee

Good to hear you've got your case and are happy with it m8. I think my closure strap must have more slack in it than yours, the only way I can get it to press the space bar is to phsically press on the outside of the case. Even if I pull the strap as tight as it will go it still doesn't answer a call. Anyhow as you said this is really something that should be configurable. Whenever I got a phonecall and the Treo was in the standard case it used to click away as a keypress was being activated, although it mustn't have been the space bar since it didn't actually answer the call.

Yip... It's a mighty fine case! I've been working on loosening up my belt clip though. It clicks with a great deal of gusto and took quite a bit of effort to disengage when I wanted to get it back off. I've been exercising the button on top hoping it will get a bit easier. (Although I do like the idea that it isn't 'easy' to open too.)

Also, I did conciously tighten up the case to get it to activate the autoanswer 'feature'. When I just let the case close normally, I don't seem to have any problems.

I am not aware of a case that you can use with the cradle for the 600.

a previous post asked a smart question about this case and use with the Sprint version of the Treo 600 (with the bulge in it). Anyone have this case with the Sprint Treo 600 who can answer this?

Just had a look on Sprint's website, from what I can see there I don't think there will be an issue with using this case on the sprint version. There are two cutouts at the sides which let that part of the case flex forwards, so I would imagine it would work on the Sprint model. However it's hard to judge off just a couple of photos.

The best bet would be if someone who already has a PF case can get their hands on a Sprint phone and try it for size.

    Again,

Treo 600 Essentials has done a review of the Piel Frama case. A Sprint phone was used.

    The full review is at:

    Best,
    Derek.

    Thanks Derek.

I'll point out, however, that one must read the treo600essentials review with a hell of a lot of inference to find out that the case works well with a Sprint phone ;-). The pictures are small and nowhere in the review does it mention that a Sprint phone was used.

However, being the analytical type, I'll surmise that (a) a Sprint phone was used; (b) the review seemed to be positive on the case; therefore (c) the case works OK with a Sprint phone.

On that assumption I ordered one from Styluscentral.com -- the $50 price is a bargain, and the lack of the $20 shipping charge (ala Vaja) is very nice. The magnetic closure looks nice, as well.

    Brian

PS -- I would have seriously considered a Vaja ivolution, but I have emailed them numerous times and they never respond to the question: "when is the Ivolution Treo 600 coming out." Today's Free Internet Business tip: if you're going to do business at internet speed -- you have to respond to emails PROMPTLY! ;-).

So there is no confusion: The case works just fine with a Sprint phone.

And the pictures are small (160 px wide to be exact) because Treo 600 Essentials is a WAP site catering to Treo 600 phones with a screen width of 160 pixels.
