    Hi,
I have been on these boards since I first got my Treo 300. I have to say I have have received so many tips and advice that I am very appreciative of this site. It has been the best place to learn so many things. I started with the prism & visorphone. I can remember the first time I was able to get on the internet. It was so amazing I had to go out and tell everyone that I knew (that was interested and could understand how there was no other device that I knew of that could do this). How far have we come! So many people complain about the things that we don't have. I can always use more as well, but look at how far we have come. Back then with the prism and visorphone, I could never have imagined that we would have come this far. If you have purchased the 600, you should be very and I mean very happy. For people that are new to this site PLEASE DO A SEARCH FIRST before posting a thread. 90% of the time there is an answer for you. If I have to see another thread on how to connect your laptop to the internet through your 600..... I have never come across a question that has not been answered. For the negative people and for those of you who have been here for a while (you know who I mean) Why are you here. Why do you post. I have always felt that this site is for us to learn and help each other. I love to learn new things and have new websites to go to. Some of our members have put up their own sites with ringers, portals, wallpapers etc. I think that is absolutely great. I have really started using alot of them! To the moderators/owners of this site- There should be a main category Treo 600. Subtopics should be hardware, gsm, cdm, accessories, software Etc.. When I look in the software category it should be 600 specific. With the software OS5,accessories Etc. it will be different than for the other treos. That is why everyone posts in the 600 forum. I am very happy with my 600. Sure, it is not perfect (not many things are, and you could wish for alot more), but all in all I am very, very happy with it.

lvigp, nice to see long time lurkers finally post! I agree, regardless of all the shortcomings in the Treo600, I must say I'm farily satisfied...at least for a short while Furthermore, I hope to see more former lurkers post as well! Its always better to have more voices out there contributing to this community!

    Cheers!

I'm for sure down on the financial viability of the latest toy released by Handspring, now palmOne - it will be Yet Another Loss Leader, IMHO, and will be discontinued fairly quickly since palmOne is almost broke so can't afford to keep it alive (e.g., the DOA TREO 90).

    Why do I post?

    Can't help myself, gotta admit.

Came here to find out information for financial purposes (as well as a boatload of other web sites) - lotsa valuable stuff here and some a-MAZING pump-it-up bull****.

So I responded to the bull**** and the games began!

(does ANYONE still doubt the NewSpeak definitions of "available" and "shipping", for example, that Handspring uses?...giggle)

If you can't stand reading the truth, then don't read it!

But don't ask me to leave.

    Because I won't.

    Reality's a *****, ain't it?

Fine with me, I have it, it works, If it was a one off, I would still buy it. Still cheaper and better then the batman belt (pager, cell phone and PDA ) on your person with four times the mass and weight. Perhaps I am not too bright, but I have no reall beefs with the T600. yes, Bluetooth woulf be nice as OE, but that is just a perk. Matt

Don't ever mistake "cool" for "financially viable" - they are two ENTIRELY different "features".

The Commodore Amiga, of which I am the proud owner of three, was way cool.

And a disaster financially - Commodore is out of business.

The fact that the TREO models, all of them, are cool doesn't help their financial viability.

The TREO 600 obviously has its problems - sure, it may be cool in many many ways - but the problems it has (as evidenced by that latest poo-pooed review noted elsewhere on this forum) are what WILL keep it from being a financial success.

A gathering of geek-fanatics unfortunately does not a financial-success market make. The TREO 180, 270, and 300 showed that empirically.

    The TREO 600 will, too.

(did I hear someone whisper "Ewwww:..)

    Seldomvisitor,

You comment frequently on the financial viability of the company, fine, but you do so without end on a board that really doesn't concern itself with such matters. People here are coming with a hardware/software/general question that doesn't necessarily concern itself with the financial status of the Palm One. Yet that (or some other negative comment) is usually your only response. Your information would be better served for the masses generally seeking it ie: financial/investing forums. Yet you've posted over 500 times here. Why? These forums don't really serve that purpose. There are plenty of those. It almost seems as though you're a person with a grudge.

On a financial forum you might be listened to, but here you're more like a troll.

Is financial viability really a concern for the people who own Palm One phones? Not as much as most other industries. If Palm One goes belly up at the same time my phone goes bad, I'm out a Palm One phone, but my service provider will still replace it for me with a different manufacturer's phone if under warranty. We will still have a comparable phone from our provider. So, how does financial viability really affect us? It's a well established platform with plenty of software and developers, and it's a good PDA phone.

I liked Syquest products far more than Iomega ones, but Syquest went belly up. I still have my Syquest drive, it still performs great even after all this time and with no company to support it. So how does Syquest's financial status affect my daily usage? It doesn't, and I'm still using a product that has far outlived its shelf life.

You spend all this time and energy at a place which supports a product/company you don't like. I guess I just don't understand your motivation or reasons. It's your choice. If your comments bother people too much, there are always other forums to go to discuss the Treo. Heck, I go to 4 other boards that can meet anyone's needs. This one is the largest, but some of the same knowledgable people can be found at the other boards as well, so one would still have their question answered. My point is you may very well drive a couple people away from here with your negativity (they're just not interested), but you've only detracted from this board, not from their ability to get the answers they need.

You come here to play games? Wow. How very sad.

    Good point-

For a "SeldomVisitor", you've posted more times than any other user I've seen!

Go to motleyfool if you want to discuss palmOne's first quarter earnings, this is about the usability of a device, not the company's future.

    Well said Infomofo!

P.S. Seldom Visitor: What do you think of people like Madonna, who work for years with hardly any pay while waiting tables, etc - and finally make it? And make it big, by making tons-of-cash later. At the start of her carreer, if wasn't a very "financially viable" position either. I'd hate to look at her "financials", 20 years of hard work with 10% success rate = millions of dollars. Just a thought.

All of you who are so strangely concerned about ME rather than the TREO 600 and it's viability:

    == Go **** yourselves!

    Giggle.

Now, let's back to discussing TREOs rather than posters, okay?
  11. #11
Is the suggestion you are giving some of us (I use that generaly), Viable in it's self? ....Giggle

Just wish we could all get along here........

I saw a really awesome poster by the bus stop the other day. I thought about taking it home and putting it on my wall, but stealing is wrong! If no one pays for posters, how are the poster posters going to make it big like Madona?

lvigp -- glad you're out of the closet. Yeah, it would be nice if people used the freakin' search feature, but it's a pretty natural thing for newbies (and quite a few vetrans, too -- hi! how's it going?) to post like idiots. All this is fine, though. Sure, the flamefests get annoying and the saccharine feel-good threads will make you want to puke. What is good about this, though, is that people basically get to say whatever they want here -- no one has to do what anyone else tells them to do (well, to a certain extent, I guess). So, relax. Jump in.

I mean, hey -- why not tell SeldomVisitor exactly where he can stick his "== Go **** yourselves!"

Edit: whoops, anthonymoody beat you to it. vvvvv

This is the problem you dullard. First, YOU don't discuss the Treo...you discuss the company. YOU equate the product and the company's viability. They are certainly |=. Why you think they are is beyond me. They are currently in the field being enjoyed by many people. If the entire company disappeared tomorrow, that fact would not change. Do the devices have problems? Certainly..and they've been discussed ad nausea. Thing is, if the Treo 600 fails, it is NOT b/c of the problems most frequently cited here. It is b/c the masses are *still* not interested in smartphones. The T600 could have BT, a 320x320 screen, and no software glitches, and it would only be marginally more successful than it currently is. End of story.

Absolutely, you ***** (that added substance to the reply, didn't it!!?), exactly as I've posited. Note that you have brought up JUST EXACTLY the problems that scurrilous reviewer brought up and why he ranked it 3rd (out of 3) of the "smartphones" he reviewed. How interesting!

    > ...YOU don't discuss the Treo...

    Ex-squeeze-me!!?

    Uh...who discussed the TREOs availability?

Who discussed reviewers comments on the ... ahem ... Ewwwwwy keyboard?

Who discussed the radio modules used internally to the TREO 600 and thus the minimum bottomline cost?

Who discussed both Dubinsky and Hawkins saying the TREO 600 was an early-adopter device STILL and that it was too expensive and that the magic pricepoint of $99 needed to be reached to keep these little buggers in production (thus supported)?

    ----

Hey! Has the original Blazer proxy server gone out of commission yet? You know, the one the TREO 180, 270, and 300 DEPEND on?

    It will.

    Oh.

    Wait.

    I didn't discuss that, either.

    ----

I bring up the financial side because that's what I'm most interested in.

And I usually bring it up ONLY when some fanatic accuses me of something or other and tells me to leave because he can't stand reality.

Well, reality is the TREO 600 was doomed from the start - the ridiculous comments from fanatics right here who are ALREADY expressing disappointment and even saying "running out of enthusiasm" (!) show just how short its lifetime is going to be. Early Adopter indeed.

THAT interests me because of finances.

And it oughta interest you because...well...because you're a TREO fanatic.

    VLTL,
I followed your lead. I was waiting for my T600 to arrive before coming out, but since I am still waiting for T-mobile I guess now is as good a time as any.

I am not fretting over the "delays". I've learned from some recent personal experiences that you need to put some things in perspective. However I do respect the "fervor" that some people have. I remember being like that a lot more than I am now. C'est la vie.

Its too bad you got blasted by Seldom. Seems like a sad, lonely, disturbed individual suffering from a large ego. I am sure that he will now feel the need to respond to me. That's ok.

AH- Finally ...The "Ignore" link. That's the best tip yet.

-Seldomvisitor (we all wish that were true...)

the biggest, most pointless ASSHAT I have seen on a board in quite some time. 500+ negative TROLLING posts about a phone he can't afford. This guy clearly has no social skills or personal life to occupy his time so he needs to get attention elsewhere.

    rivaled only by...

-PurpleX (and his alphabet soup of personalities) see above comments!

    IGNORED!

Free at last, free at last....

    Love it!
