Personally, I think SpeedLaunch is better. It has a very simple interface and basically does what 1 Button Pro does. Better yet, it's cheaper (about half the price).

Some of my other favorite apps:

    1. Audible - Can't live without it.
    2. SnapperMail
    3. pTunes
    4. ZLauncher - With this great launcher, you don't need PowerRun/TealAlias or Filez. It does it all!
    5. Agendus
    6. ThoughtManager - for keeping track of inspirations whenever they strike.
    7. Chatter
    8. ClipPRO
    9. PalmReader
    10. Blazer

The list goes on, but those are my top 10, 11 actually with SpeedLaunch.

I tried a copy of Top Gun SSH that I got from this site (suppose to be v1.3). It kept rebooting my Treo 600 each time I tried to run it. What version are people using that can use TGSSH successfully? And where can I get a copy?

    What a neat thread!

Besides all ToDo, Calendar and Memo conduits, the following are pretty much used daily:

    ZLauncher (Great launcher, IMHO)
    Snappermail
OWA-PDA (Allows blazer to access corporate Exchange OWA)
    Smartlist (Great little DB program)
Print Boy (Print to IR and network printers)
Docs to Go (Absolutely couldn't live without)
Diddlebug (Drawings / notes with alarms, a real find!)
PocketTunes (shoutcast makes this all worthwhile)
Avantgo (fading, but still has some great sites)
Chatter (who knew messaging could be so neat!)
DirAssist (nice front end to 555-1212.com)
Mergic Ping (Is that server up?)
Mocha Telnet (telnet or ssh over to that balky server)
TuSSH (telnet with a little class....)
Eurdora Web (If Blazer can't do it, this one will try)
Redtail Blackjack (Best straight up blackjack game)
BJ Counter and BJ Expert (keeps you sharp for Vegas)
Backupman (Completely restores from a hard reset)

and as far as Blazer friendly sites:

    Treocentral
    PDA Portal
    Hotmail
    Accuweather
    Treo600 Essentials

I discovered in another thread (sorry, can't remember which) that you can do a ping from the Network Prefs. In other words, it's already built into the Treo 600. Just open Prefs and select Network from the list. Then, press the menu button and select Options->View Log. It doesn't look like there's a text field here, but notice the blinking cursor. Now, just type "ping www.someserver.com" and press the enter key. I haven't tried traceroute yet...

    Here's my list:

    1. Directory Assistant: has saved me .75 so many times in
Sprint 411 charges. Not to even mention the Maps!
    2. Backupman: worth the investment for peace of mind.
    3. FileZ: a must have for accessing/handling files on your PDA
    4. Wordsmith: my must have app for data entry + Affordable.
    5. Switch5: A free program that allows you to switch programs
    6. Bdicty: always have a dictionary on hand.
    7. Bible: "MarkMyScriptures" Always have the Word on hand:
    (correct link) http://www.skimware.com/MarkMyScriptures.htm
    8. Today: A nice free program to personalize.
    9. 1st Aid: Great to have if you can remember to use it.
    10. Colorize: Change the boring PDA colors to your liking.
    11. HS Email: Free and it works well.
    12. KeysCap: Simplify the use of the keyboard
    13. BeTheDealer: Blackjack program. Way cheaper than Vegas.
    14. Calendar. I'm not thrilled with the system one, but it is an app
    that I much depend on.
    15. Resco Viewer: useful to view my pics on the SD card
although I am dissappointed that it does not work like it did
on my old Pocket PC. I'm not able to adjust the color,
contrast, etc. The slide show is still cool to watch.

Now we should start a list of apps everyone loved, we loaded them but couldn't em figure out so we deleted them.

    Whats On is back! BooYAHHH!

Nice little app, and it is free. However, Pocket TV Browser is more navigation-friendly on my Treo. Whats On essentially requires the stylus for navigation, while PTVB can be naviagated with hard keys. Granted, neither has proper Dpad support, but PTVB is still easier to get around in.

Also, I prefer the PTVB layout. The grid layout in Whats On is nice and intuitive, but on the small Treo screen the TV titles get so clipped that I often can't decipher what I'm looking at. Once I got used to the "list" format that PTVB uses, I find that I can see far more info on the screen at a time. I also like the greater robustness of features in PTVB, such as color coding my favorite listings, scheduling listings into my calendar, and the ability to do specific searches (ie, just the listings for X channel, all listings with X actor, etc.).

I am running into trouble with Directory Assistant. Every time I hit search or try to check one of the preference boxes, my Treo600 resets. Is this happening to anyone else?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Julie,

No problems here. I would delete it and reinstall and see if it works. Won't hurt and it may correct the problem.

The program is definately worth the try, it is one of the BEST one's on the Treo!

Works perfectly for me. Directory Assistant and HandyShopper are probably the two most useful freeware apps ever released - the developers deserve to be praised for what they've given to the Palm community.

Try deleting the app with Uninstall Manager, then download and reinstall it again.

    Hi Dynamicnet,

Version is 1.40 according to the welcome screen, and the URL I found this at is:

    http://www.freewarepalm.com/communication/palmvnc.shtml

Works flawlessly as far as you could expect from a Treo 600.

    Cheers
