I just started using business connection on my Treo 600 and it seems good for now except one.
I'm trying to download and open attachment and it won't let me. This only happens in my main account(business connection client) which is standard IMAP account. If I forward same email to POP account and sync then I can download the doc file and read it.
Anyone having same problems? BTW, I installed file add-on or something (I think that's why I can view attachment in POP account).

dlee27 - There are number of threads on this one so hopefully we can figure this out. Here's some starter questions:

    1. What is the exact error you see when trying to download the attachment via an IMAP connection?

    2. What Email server are you connecting to via IMAP and is is configured from the BC desktop side or the Web Interface side of BC?

I did search before I post this message but was not able to find any similar problem. Most of them was related to "disabled" or not working at all.
    Answers to your questions are:

    1. there is no error, just nothing. I tap the attachment and nothing happens. In my POP account if I tap it it asks whether I want to download it or not and I can download it.

    2. it's my school email server which support both IMAP and POP. I configured it from the PC. I don't know how I can configure it in my Treo. In the manage menu I don't see this default account. All I can see are just two other email accounts(POP) that I set up.

    dlee27 - A few more questions.

    1. Going through the web interface on your PC are you able to read your email with the attachments from the IMAP server?

    2. Were these messages with attachments sent to you from somebody else using the same Email server you are using? If so then if you know somebody outside the organization or a friend that can send you an email with an attachment and then check to see if the attachment can be clicked on?

    3. If you can find out the exact Email server name and version that might help as certain ones aren't as IMAP compliant as they should be which could throw off the email header and attachment... just a theory but also something that has

Your situation is a bit different in the setup and given there have been some general issues discussed with IMAP servers maybe this is a problem with that server in particular.

    Thanks for your help.
    1. I can view the attachment in the PC.

    2. I tried emailing from the other server and same result. Tapping attachment result in nothing.

    3. this, I need to ask someone who know.

ok.. now for some next steps.. which simply involve producing a clean log file to see if there are any clues in it. Here's the steps for this:

To verify this do the following.

    1. Disconnect the Desktop Client
    2. Go to the "Sprint/PCS Business Connection" Directory and rename slingshot.log to slingshot.old... this is just the log file used by the BC Desktop.
    3. Restart the Desktop Client
    4. Sync your Treo 600.
    5. Now cut and paste your slingshot.log file here so we can view anything unusual. Normally I'd ask you to click on the attachment but since yours is not able to do this maybe the log file will yield something of interest.

I'm attaching slighshot log file. Interesting find. It says I don't have Fileview add-on. If that's true how am I able to see attachment in other account?
Anyway, I reinstalled fileview add-on while I'm writing this message and it works. I don't know what happened.

One other quick question. I tried to copy email message by selecting the text and it won't let me. Is it just me or I really cannot copy text?

    And Thank you MobileGhost.

dlee27 - Great to hear you resolved your issue... it seems the fileview was somehow messed up. Now for some post-mortem...

    1. Actually the reason it worked through your POP account is because that is configured through your Web interface and uses a server based connector and method for getting attachments.

    2. As for copying email are you referring to doing this in the email screen in BC on your 600? In my checking it seems it does not supports cutting and pasting inside the email when reading it but when you compose it then it looks to be supported.
