My friend said he read somewhere that Motorola manufactures the phone part of the Treos, while Handspring manufactures the PDA part. He also pointed out that the chargers for all Treos were Motorola branded (which they appear to be).

    Any truth to this?

If you ask me, that's a good thing. Motorolla makes quality stuff. I would not be surprised, Motorolla makes the radio's on the Palm i705 and the Tungsten W. At least we know the phone hardware will be reliable.

Well I know that Airprime makes the CDMA radio for the Treo. I don't know if Motorola makes any part of it. The CDMA chipset is made by Qualcomm and the PDA processor is made by TI.
