    Hi all,

I was thinking of getting a Treo 600 to replace my MP3 player and phone. Has anyone tried playing MP3's and how is the quality. Also, can the phone portion be turned off so I can listen to MP3 on the plane.

    Thanks!

The mp3 player on the TREO 600 impressed me alot. Granted you will need to purchase an SD card (I have a 256 meg) that will allow you to store the MP3's on.

I installed Pocket Tunes. This software allows you to organize and play your favorite MP3 tunes directly from the SD card. You are able to turn the wireless portion of the TREO 600 and not hinder the OS. So basically you can use it as a PALM PILOT until you get off the plane. Enjoy!!

Does the music skip at all or is it smooth and does it play in stereo?

    Thanks for your feedback.

It doesn't skip, sounds great and is in stereo if you use stereo headphones.

It also plays well from the speaker in the back of the Treo

The actual speaker on the back of phone is very loud when playing MP3's. I actually have to turn it down at times. Overall MP3 playing is A+ in my book

My Sprint T600 didn't come with an MP3 player. How did you get one?

When you register with Handspring, you are given the choice between a game and Pocket Tunes.

The PocketTunes is free for anyone who registers a Treo 600 from any country. The software only runs on a 600 as it is customized for the 5-way.

If you want to check it out in advance, it is almost identical to the software on this page:

    http://www.pocket-tunes.com/

The place to register a Handspring (palmOne) product is:

    http://www.handspring.com/register/ - general
    https://www.handspring.com/register/treo600/index.jhtml - Treo 600 only
