Well, I converted about 5 ringtones from the TC site and loaded via TC Ringer... well, it make the tones really quiet. I am going to edit the ringers via an editor and raise the volume up on them and see how the Treo responds, the only heartbreaking thing about this device so far... oh and I can't use vision yet... it's been 3 hours

No luck with Anvil. Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone contacted HS about this?

Well, just got off the phone with Handspring... not too helpful and I knew more than he did about his own product. He told me the "3rd party developer needs to make a compatiable product for the Treo 600", I told him he was an ***** and to stop reading me scripts. He didn't like that too much

Oh well... I'll think of something.

Tried it already..didn't help much. My guess its with the speakers. It seams that high tones come out loud, while lower tones for bass, drums ect. come out really quiet.

A good example is the midi file for "the saint" by orbital. The begining is nice and loud, the other parts come in and you can barely hear it :/

    the saint

I think you might have to trim down the file, since it is larger than 64k.

    Why are you using TCRinger?

I think I made it quite clear why I was using TC Ringer... Read my original post over, I didn't have Vision provisioned yet therefore the only way to import a MiDi at the time was via a Ringer Manager program.

It doesn't even matter, the same tones sound the same way when installed via download rather than TC Ringer.

    But thanks for not helping.

All the sounds on the t600 come out too soft or too quite. It will barely catch your attention while you watch tv. Get ready to get a lot of missed calls if your phone is in the other room i guess. I've added like 10 different ringtones and non sound much louder than the other when volumn level is up to 7.

Well Handspring called me back today, they said that I should try downloading ringtones from Treo Central as ringtones are not optomized for the Treo.

They sent me a bunch of ringtones... and I've figured out that the T600 can't do high volumn on more sophisticated ringtones. Simple ones, like the Austin Powers and Star Trek themes (they sent me those two) work great, but they sent me Scar Tissue by RHCP and some Queen songs and they are low. So, I think the chord table isn't terrific, who knows, I could be wrong.

Links of the ones HS sent me. Go directly to that link from your phone as well to download em all.

again..it is the treo's SPEAKER not the midi files. High tones work fine, but the speakers can not produce low tones loudly. Most the default ringtones use high tones only.

Try listening to the midi ringtones thru headphones, they sound nice and loud.

Not necessarily. I have some midis where the bass comes through loud enough to sound distorted and the higher pitch sounds are very low. So in Anvil I had to turn the bass way down to compensate. Yeah some of it is the speaker, but some of it has to do with the midis themselves. Some ringtones I've optimized to be quite loud, bass and treble.

Interesting, I opened a midi file in Sonar and set all the tracks volumes to max (127) and didn't hear much of a difference, but I really didn't spend too much time fiddling with it.

Could you send or post some of those ringtones you've optimized?

Here are some that i cut to get to the best part for a ringtone and tweaked the instruments and volumes so they're not TOO quiet.

The first few clearly sound the best. I'm looking for an application to give me even more control than Anvil. What I really need is something to not only let me max out the volumes of instruments, but to increase the overall volume of the entire song.

    A related question for all...

Does anyone know what "instruments" are supported by the Treo 600? I assume they probably support a bunch of them and not some of them.

Maybe if someone with an SDK has the instrument info, we could tweek them a bit using different instruments.

    Any thoughts?

My first fear after messing with my new T600 was the volume of the ringtones. I thought, "I'll never catch a call with tones so low." I loaded TC Ringers and subsequently Pocket Tunes and now, the ringer will blow ya away. Don't ask me what happened, all I know is I can hear my phone ringing now
My Treo: I think I'll keep her. All dressed up for prom and her date Foleo stood her up

How so? The current version of TC Ringer doesn't support assigning midis to individuals. Will it still work for pda's and make them louder? As for Pocket Tunes, are you able to use that in conjunction with TC Ringer somehow?

Here's a couple of more professional "normal" ringtones I'm using that are a little louder and small 6 to 7k.

    download straight to Treo.

so i've downloaded standard .MID files and emailed em to my 600 via snappermail (full download on messages of course) and although it will TRY to open the files in sound manager, they won't play at all.

Any thoughts? What tha &$^%*? This is per the exact instructions for the 600!

Many thanks for any illuminating thoughts...
