OK so the BLT store availability went back to showing 11/3 instead of "we no longer carry this item"

More possible evidence that retailers are in ongoing disputes with HS.

He, he... And it seems to going on right now, with the dates and availability jumping back and forth every few minuttes. Must be a hefty discussion..

Interesting that BLT is now showing over 300 units incoming. Yesterday it was around 30. Seems like HS is squeezing retailers on minimum quantities. Maybe that's what the delays are about: unit numbers and pricing. Idle speculation. Just want it now.

all we have time to do is speculate - if they would just give us our GSM T600's already then we could stop having to read this friggin board every 2 minutes and start playing!

True. So here's some more. The current date at BLT is 11/3, as previously mentioned. If HS releases on or about 10/18 (Monday) that would give them exactly 2 weeks prior to retailer availability (11/3 is also a Monday). Starting to make sense, IMO.

For what it's worth, Ingram Micro still shows 11/3 as of 3pm CST today.

I know that this has been stated previously in various threads, but it is a point that continues to look more and more like REALITY. I got an email from HS late today, and here are the primary 2 paragraphs included:

<After many months of reading rave reviews and patiently waiting, the Treo 600 has finally arrived at our warehouse. Place your order early because they are sure to go fast!>

<It is currently only the Sprint version of the Treo 600 that is available. If you are using a different service provider, now is a great time to make the switch to Sprint! As new Sprint customer, you can purchase a Treo 300 for as low as $399 after service credit and mail-in rebate.>

I can't understand why Sprint/HS wouldn't just admit that Sprint has a head start (for financial/business reasons, etc.) and say that other platforms are following "x" weeks later. Not good business to have 20 different dates floating around, along with these rumors of T600 platform problems that come and go every two days. Seems like very bad business by HS if you ask me.

it is sounding more and more like there are a bunch of GSM T600's just sitting around waiting for Sprint to milk whoever will switch.

    Bummer

    hey folks :

My friends over at treo600.net told me that many frustrated customers in the US that were leery of Sprint coverage and waiting for the GSM/GPRS T600, have been happy to find out they can buy the T600 now and return it within 90 days for a full refund if they don;t like coverage.

it's not the coverage - its that unsightly bulge that scare me off....

That is not accurate. Sprint only offersa 14 day refund, AND you are responsible for paying the first months bill regardless if you canceled on day 1 or day number 14. Read your fine print. NO carrier gives a 90 day trial. Thats just stupid.

He is not the definitive source for launch information. His 'sources' even have bad sources. Follow the link to see his other post about the Sprint launch.

Just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

OK folks, I'm not an old Treo owner. I've been using T-Mobile's Sidekick since Oct 2002. I just took the plunge and ordered the Treo 600 from Handspring. I payed the extra $6 for express shipping. **** / Handspring Telesales was very pleasant. I figure that I'll get the Treo 600 for Sprint by the end of the month, try out Sprint service for about 5 days, etc. This will give me a chance to see if I can deal with the transition from Sidekick's awesome QWERTY keyboard and flip screen to the Treo 600.

**** said that if I decided that the Sprint version wasn't for me, then I could send it back and get full refund...by that time I'd hope the GSM model would be available. My first preference is to stick with T-Mobile though, so I can get some sort of handset upgrade discount, etc.

I'll bet this delay is really due to something stupid like waiting for the T-Mobile branding to be printed on the device or something simple like that.

HS knows if I am a current treo 180/270 owner I'm gonna use my existing SIM and order an unlocked device from them directly for the discount. Number portability being 11/24 and a new contract makes me hold off even more about converting to Sprint. The only thing I personally want in the CDMA version is the black color.

Question: Has anyone treo 180/270 owner here converted from GSM to Sprint just to get the 600 early?

Would there normally be a T-Mobile announce 1st, HS announce unlocked second scenario or agreement?

I would think if HS has unlocked GSM devices, they would want to start moving them....possible their manufacturing got delayed for some reason....

We need a break soon...just grasping at straws here.....It is starting to hurt.

Someone in my office just told me their Sprint contact said the GSM delay is because of low stock. He said this is because of the "Month-Long" vacation most European's get.

Could this be true? Anyone know where the GSM T600 is manufactored? If so, what holiday falls around this time (and why the h@ll can't US workers get a month off!?!)
