In my 600, I was trying to copyi text from memo pad (about 100 lines in memo pad) and got the message "clipboard limit exceeded".

I was able to copy the exact same text in memo pad in my 300. As a matter of fact, the memo i was copying was hotsynced from the 300 to the 600. This is totally unacceptable since I use it a lot to copy texts as canned replies to e-mails. I did a few sof resets with the same results.

Can someone else give this a try and report back?

That's the Palm OS. There is no way aroudn it with the built in apps. Kinda sucks, doesn't it?

Wait the minute! You mean the upgraded Palm OS 5.0 made the clipboard size smaller than the older version 3.5? What are they thinking? Is there a workaround? This is just not acceptable.

It's the copying limit you exceeded, not the memo size limit. No different on your Treo 300. Just copy smaller amounts over several times. There are several programs out there that overcome this (ClipHack is one), but I doubt it works on OS5.

Maybe I was not clear enough or you did not read my post correctly. The exact same memo pad file was on the Treo 300 and I had no trouble copying it on the 300.

I suppose the same clipboard is used for other applications such as Quickword. Don't tell me you can only copy 30 lines of text at a time (or whatever the limit is) in OS 5.

I called HS tech support and reported the problem with the memo pad clipboard limit and opened a case #.

I also did more testing of the memo pad in both Treo 300 and 600 and here are the results:

    Treo 600:

Max number of characters that can be entered per memo is 3985

Max number of characters that can be copied at a time is 971

    Treo 300:

Max number of characters that can be entered per memo is 4052

Max number of characters that can be copied at a time is 4052

HS called me back this morning with a workaround, which turns out only applies to the GSM 600, where a max size memo can be sent from within memo pad to the included mail app. HS is still investigating my case and I will hear from them again.

I just found this thread, I'd love to hear any new information about upgrading the clipboard size on a Treo 600 (CDMA).

    Get ClipPro.

Dunno if it's reset free on the later Treos.

    Shareware: ClipPro >> http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?xyz=46830 ($12.95)
10 clipboards, each able to hold up to 62kb. Plus 4 "stable" clippies, i.e., insert frequently used text for easy insertion as needed, as these 4 slots will never change until you explicitly wipe out the text. Hence, I coughed up the dough, and would do it again in a heartbeat-- it's that dang good!

Note: You'll probably want freebie FieldPlus, or Butler, to get to the ClipPro icon in the command bar area (both apps = hold menu key, to pop open command bar)

    Butler ($11.95) >> http://palmgear.com/index.cfm?xyz=52726
    {Don't recall where I saw this earlier today, but Butler is now at version 2.86; PalmGear has 2.85}

When I use the stylus (actually my index finger) to select text, ClipPro opens.
