Just wanted to throw my hat in support for a non-ear bud retractable stereo headset with mic solution.

The best retractable feature I've ever seen is a Mad Catz headphone for the Game Boy Advance. Unlike headset retractables that need to be housed in a measuring tape sized box that hooks to your belt, the Mad Catz headphones retracts with a little tug into a neat little medalion like spool. The only problem was that the quality of the headphones were complete garbage. I've seen retractable headphones from Macally and RCA, but haven't sampled them yet.

My best interim solution for me thus in far in terms of comfort, convenience and sound quality is to use a foldable in-ear headphone from Sony ($20). The sound is better than average. I still depend on the t600 speaker phone to deal with incoming calls while listening to MP3. When I store I store the headphones in my bag, I fold the headpiece and wrap the wire around it to prevent tangling. I'm actually surprised that even when I don't wrap the wires, they don't get tangled or at least the headrest part of it.

Still hoping for that perfect headset.

There is still no sign of us getting an unlocked GSM Treo 600.
So naturally we cannot do anything until then.

It seems that we will not get one before the end of November.

I'd be okay with non-ear buds as long as the ear phones are small, which I've never seen from anything that isn't ear bud sized. It does little good to have a nice small converged phone, pda, internet, mp3 player, camera, if you add huge earphones to it.
