I know that handspring and radio shack both have a 90 Degree plug that costs about $6-10... but is there any alternatives? I would much prefer a 2-3" cord adapter so I wouldn't have to worry about bending the plug as easy...

Also does anyone know if any companies make decent 2.5mm headphones?

We have a 4" right angle one which is very popular with Ipaq 19xx owners:

Go to bottom of the page and look for SP2J3.

    It is priced at $3.25
(but there is a minimum ordr of $11.50 plus postage which may be a problem if you do not need to buy anything else).

You could also consider S3M2M which connects to H-Fi/Active speakers with standard 3.5mm input jack.

the proper jack for the treo 600 has 2 rings on it. it is called a 3 conductor jack, but it has two rings.

if interested keep in mind the jack is 3/32 on the male side and 1/8 on the female. if you like the 90 degree angle adpter/jack, it won't stick out as far, the radio shack catalog number is 274-298. they also have some nice inexpensive head phones. good luck.

Hmm, I believe part #274-298 has a 3/32 female. I'm not sure radioshack has exactly what Hanspring offers (RadioShack does have a straight 3/32 male to 1/8 female, but no 90 degree one that I know of)

I just ordered a stereo headset with a 2.5mm plug. It's actually designed for the Kyocera 7135 smartphone, but I'm going to see if it works with the Treo 600. I wanted a set of headphones that I could listen to my mp3s (in stereo) with and have them double as a headset. We'll see... If you're interested; they are $11.99 from the store listed below.

Please let us know how this Kyo 7135 solution works. It looks like what a lot of us have been seeking.....stereo earbuds with a answer/hang-up button using a 3-conductor 2.5 mm jack.

you are correct. thank you! as you say, rs does have the straight adapters that will work fine , but if one desires the right angle i've only seen handspring offering it.. i'm not sure they're shipping them yet. does anyone know?

i know handspring will be offering 3/32 or 2.5 jack stereo head phones(dual ear plug design) i have note seen these available for sale yet, however. does anyone know of a release date on these?

    Oops...sorry. I just checked and the Kyocera 7135 uses a 4-conductor 2.5 mm stereo jack. The Treo 600 uses a 3-conductor 2.5 mm jack.

A friend of mine has one of the newer Ipaq's (the smaller one with built in Bluetooth) and it has a 2.5mm plug as well. An adapter came in the box, and it works perfectly on the 600! It's about three inches long, inline, but the male end is very short, and an inch or two of cable connects the male end with the female, allowing it to flex while in a case (mimicking a 90 degree plug). I'll try to do some research and see if those are available anywhere...

Is this the Radio Shack adapter that would allow me to use regular headsets?

If the ipaq adapter works... then the PC mobile adapter should work too... However.... I am really curoius about the headset/speaker combo too...

I will order the PC mobile adapters and report if they work
