I am joining the Treo 600 bandwagon after having a T300 for the last year. My wife has a Sprint account with a Sanyo 4900 (tri mode?) phone. My question is, what does dual-band digital actually mean - or how does it improve the phone? I originally thought It could get analog roaming in areas where no PCS signal was available, but have learned differently from what I have been reading, so what good is it?

It allows you to use Sprint's own PCS 1900 Mhz band and to roam on Verizon CDMA 800 Mhz band when Sprint is not available (In my experience, Sprint always takes priority, even if Verizon signal is stronger as long as there IS some Sprint signal ! )

What you can't do is Analog Roam on the AMPS 800 Mhz network. Probably to conserve battery, I guess.
Since people have problems with my Einstein quotes, I will now quote my true hero: Homer Simpson.

    "Doh !'
