Anyone get this working yet? It doesn't appear that the 600 came bundled with j2me, and java.sun.com isn't very clear on what exactly to download.

JavaScript is unrelated to Java - different animals entirely.

That is what I was triing to convey, but didn't know for sure (As said, it's still a little greek to me, but getting better)

For some reason i don't think the 600 supports Sun's Java VM which is a shame. The people who are beta testing our stock app Midcast have not been having any luck. I have no clue what kind of Java it is using and Handspring has not offered any good info that I've seen for developers.

The Web browser supports pages with Javascript, which is a nice plus. However, I don't think that the device runs Java. The two things are almost completely unrelated.

Very interesting question - if somebody knows the answer, please enlighten us. Is this more of a Palm OS issue, rather than a Treo600 issue? If so, what is the current state of VMs for Palm 5.X?

I've tried both on my Treo 600 and both just reset my Treo when I try to run anything. It displays the Java logo then resets.

Anyone get any of these J2ME runtimes to work on the Treo 600?

no. too many people confuse java and javascript.

java = sun microsystems programming language...its similar to c/c++

javascript = simple web scripting language

you can make programs with java, not with javascript.

and the treo 600 does not support java, the only way it would is if sun released a version that would support it, and they have not yet and i have read that they aren't planning on it at this point.

hope that clears up any confusion

So this isnt a JVM then?

It sure looks like one. Or at least the micro edition. There was a thread somewhere that said that this does indeed work with the 600.

This DOES NOT work!!! I made the mistake of reading that other thread and buying it. Oh well, no big loss, and maybe PalmOne will support Treos soon.
