    You can now order the Treo 600 over the phone through telesales or customer service. They are not released in the stores yet. Supposedly this happens a lot. Phones are unoficially released over the phone first, then later there will be a high profile official launch (in-store too). I asked when Treo 600 in-store they said "coming soon". So you CAN get the Treo 600 as of today Monday, 10.6. BUT here's the catch: not everyone at Sprint has the right info. Some will say yes they are available others will say no not available. Even a supervisor I spoke with said we don't have that yet. A regular CSR before that said that they ARE available to order. You just have to keep calling back until you get the right info. Just like Sprint. Also $399 to $599 price jump is ridiculous... good luck all!

    I called, verified that it is 'released', verified that I would have to pay full price (the only discount is for signing a new contract and mine hasn't expired), asked to buy one, waited about 7 minutes (felt like an hour) and then she came back on the line and said that they don't have any available and she can't even take an order!

    Total bummer!

    I know you guys are talking about Sprint - but FYI - no go at T-Mobile Customer Care yet - even for pre-ordering - the rep I spoke to don't even have information that it is coming out.

    I had a feeling that this was going to happen today, but didn't want to post the negative 'vibes'.

    I have stayed up late to watch the morning rush and I am now going to bed to cry myself to sleep.

    Hope when I read the forum in the morning there is some good news.

    I called, verified that it is 'released', verified that I would have to pay full price (the only discount is for signing a new contract and mine hasn't expired), asked to buy one, waited about 7 minutes (felt like an hour) and then she came back on the line and said that they don't have any available and she can't even take an order!
    How much will the discount be for sprint users with expired contracts who are willing to sign a new contrtact?

    yea, I waited on hold for 15 minutes, twice and got the same answer, "the phone is not in our system yet"

    I was able to order a Treo 600 from Sprint this morning, by referencing the "Soft Launch" I learned here (much thanks!). The CSR I spoke to was not aware of it's availability, but put me on hold to talk to her manager. When she returned, she said she could take my order, it would ship today, and that I would receive it in 2-3 business days.

    She also told me that the reason a CSR may not be aware of the availability of the 600 today is because an eMail announcing they can sell it just went out this morning. If you call Sprint Tele-Sales(1.800.480.4727) and get denied, just refer to this eMail they received today and that should help.

    Just got off the phone with a very nice customer service rep. She told me that the order was placed $599, no new contract and that it should be here by Wendesday or so. I'm holding out for Friday because of there insanely slow shipping. She told me to call back later today or tomorrow for a tracking #.

    All in all, after waiting on hold, she found the phone in the system fine and placed the order. She also said that it was in stock and she saw no problems.

    We'll see, if you take it at face value, it will be here this week.

    Here's hoping.

    Did they give you what the price of the Treo would be ($599)? Did you try to get any discounts? Did they make you sign and new Plan? I need some details.

    To start, I have a business account, it seemed to make a difference. I get a discount, cuz my company is sprint-everything.

    Ok, called business services... (888-788-4727) available. .. 599, 3-5days to ship. So I can buy it right now, YES. Can I get overnight?, she said not from her, I wanted it overnight, I got greedy.

    Sent me to telesales, cuz they can ship overnight.

    <sigh> I miss the sound of her voice.... the voice of hope.

    #1, well, he seemed to know that what, and he aint got it, no way no how, next... off to "Business telesales"
    #2 she, matter of factly, said the same thing, she cant pull it up, it's not availabe. Maybe the first person said the a600? no.. she didn't... I wouldnt let her make that mistake It seemed like she knew about the phone.

    Also... she said that they can't overnight anyway. I remember someone saying they had it shipped quick for this mornings delivery. I think she was just BS in general.

    So what do I do... if I buy now... could be thur-fri or worse MONDAY.. before I get it, or I could just wait, and stalk my local sprint store every morning. (like this morning)

    I'm going to wait for now.

    I bought my Treo 300 during its soft roll out over a year ago. I was told to call back the next day for the tracking number. When I called back the next day, I was told my phone was on back order. It would not be impossible for them to get so many orders this first day that they over sell their initial inventory.

    I'm NOT trying to douse your hopes, just staying in theme with your discipline to keep realistic about it.

    $599? They have to be kidding. I guess I will be waiting it out. Maybe even a year or more. I am disgusted at the mark up of these phones. $99 for a Sprint Treo that I spent $400 bucks on earlier this year. They better have a reasonable trade-in deal for us Treo 300 owners.

    I did everything described by Jack (Telesales, softlaunch, referencing email, etc.) and still no dice. The CSR put my on hold and still no dice. She said, I know everything about the phone, it is just not in the system for me to sell you. I am not an existing Sprint customer so that might have something to do with it.

    She suggested I try the stores....

    I was catching up on my Tivo recorded episodes of TechTV -- checked out the 10/4 episode of Fresh Gear at the :08 mark in the Pipeline segment which features the Treo 600 and zooms in on the keyboard.

    The episode also re-airs on 10/7 @ 10:30 a.m. Eastern on TechTV (Fire-and-Forget Vacuum, Chill Your Laptop, and More).

    This happens to all computer related products... they are obsolete and worthless the day you buy them. These phones are not investments, and should never be viewed as such.

    Yay! I'm ordered

    Info for those looking to order from *2:

    • I spoke with a rep in New Mexico. Very helpful, did everything I asked, found the phone after some looking.
    • THE PHONE I SLISTED UNDER THE "AIRPRIME" SECTION OF THE ORDER SCREEN. Tell that to your *2 rep and see what they say. That should help in ordering.
    • Re a post I made a week ago, because a rep had quoted me a $100 discount on my phone back then, they are going to apply that to my account (so the phone is still costing me 600, but getting a 100 discount which will be applied to my bill) AND the 5% discount for reupping my contract.
    • Phone will be shipping UPS overnite when it ships from their warehouse.


    So the phone is out, and I will have mine soon. Yay!
