Also the sidekick doesn't use a normal sim card so its not transferable.

Huh? Are you sure about that. I stuck it in a BlackBerry and it read it ok but I couldn't make a call. I think it was coverage issues. I guess I'll try it again.

I dunno about the blackberry but from what I've heard it is a little bigger than a standard sim card for a gsm phone.

    WBO,

Thanks man for going through all of this trouble for us. I missed the first list, hopefully your friend will be able to expand the second one!

Oh, and your message de-lurkified me too.

No the sidekick sim card fits in the blackberry and appears to work etc. It only shows an at&t signal right now, though I did see a t-mobile (voicestream) briefly but not long enough to make a test call.

A sidekick SIM will work in other phones and devices. However you are limited To phone and SMS, as the Data does not work on a device besides the SK.

    WeeBit.. Thanks again!

    "OK Kids.... DONT Bombard me..."
Wow! What a great thing to do, WBO! Sorry about bombarding you, though, I'm really excited to even be considered for the "2nd list"...should it become active! Thanks for your offer, and time. Now, get some sleep!

Um...if you want to cross over to the dark side, you can take advantage of the usual signup promotions, and probably get the same price WBO is kindly haggling for.

We who are already T-Mobile customers (especially those who are either locked into a contract or have another reason to stay with T-Mobile (better signal strength at my abode that any other provider.))...can't really take advantage of the offer.

I was pondering jumping to Sprint, myself--but T-mobile's customer service has been quite good over the past year. And their coverage is good--at least in Atlanta.

I dunno, this offer seems like a great way to get an unlocked GSM without having to extend an existing contract. At least I think so.

I have a T-Mobile contract which is almost up, and if I could get an unlocked GSM via this deal then I could pick another provider if my Treo600+T-Mobile reception isn't good. With my sidekick it only works if I leave it upside down on a table.

    WBO,

I PM'd you the requested info exactly the way you wanted it. However, I would like to explain that the T-Mobile number I gave you is no longer active (disconnected 9/12 because I returned the BlackBerry 7230). Still, this should tell the salesperson that a credit check has already been done.

    Regards,

    John

Heh potatoho I'm sorta in the same boat as you. My sidekick always had spotty reception but I heard it was because of the hardware. I hope the treo600 will give off better reception in my area, if not I'll jump over to sprint even though I like the idea of GSM in general.

I submitted the list.... but you can still send me more info, My guy at T-Mobile feels that he will be able to do more of these deals...

FYI: You have a better chance of getting this deal done if you...
DO NOT HAVE THE UNLIMITED DATA PLAN OPTION yet.
HE will be processing those people first... (because they are a higher margin)

You will be notified by email if its gonna happen for ya.

What if I cancel my unlimited data and re-up after the deal?
  20. #80
Thanks again WeeBit!! It's really great that you are taking all this time and effort to do this!!

Do you have any idea about the time frame of when we'll be notified? Any idea on what the price might be in comparison with unlocked GSM from Handspring ($399)?

I do have the unlimited data plan... I hope it still works.
