    Dan,

I am so glad you are going to mission possible! I hope you take this opportunity to explain to each carrier, Handspring and everyone who attends about how you are boycotting the Treo 600 by going to the event.

I hope someone is keeping an eye on you, but I hope they have to good sense to also sit back and watch you for entertainment's sake. Please report back how it goes.

Take lots of pictures, I am very jelous of everyone who gets to attend.

Maybe they'll see me with my bucket hat and crazy t-shirt and say why don't we just give this guy a FREE Treo 600? Wouldn't this be a great photo op? I'll even change my name to Treo.

hey Mike! Thanks for the great info again.

By the way, do you know if the Cingular and T-Mobile Treo 600's will be branded with their company logos? I sure hope not. I can't stand the T-Mobile logo. Pink on silver???

Boycotting means that you won't accept or purchase goods from a given party based on principle. Even if the item is free.
If you are truly boycotting the 600 you will throw it back at them and say, "to heck it you and your filthy plots to take advantage of the consumer!"

    WBO,

You mentioned in your post that all confirmed carriers would have the phone avail 10/20. Does that mean AT&T as well even though on your first post there was not a launch date. PLEASE say yes!!!

    Thanks!

Regarding all the dates WeeBit gave as "available to retail"....do those dates apply to being able to purchase 600s directly from Handspring? In other words, I see those dates as the dates you can purchase from Sprint, Cingular, TMobile, etc. Think we could purchase direct from HS sooner?

(As if a few days matters...)

Any news from your source on availability in Canada, in particular on the Rogers network?

Wait, what's this about a secret launch event in SF? Can someone help me out by explaining what that is?

Maybe they have a back door that someone whose attending could unlock for me? I'll be your best friend! I pinky swear!

You do good work!! your reporting is great.

Would you confirm whether people with the auto mail return were turned away in New York?? I was planning to drive up to Boston from Cape Cod just to show up at the meeting. If I definitely will be turned away I won't waste my time driving the

Dont know about AT&T, she seemed to not know exactly what was going to be there. Also, I dont yet know if the available to retail dates are for HS or the carrier.

As far as the "mission" goes, I am looking forward to "rubbing elbows" with Dan, and I'll be sure to let you (herb) know if they in people with the autoreply, as a bunch of my friends are attempting to do exactly that.

to WeeBitObsessed....I have shared with other forums (with linkage to your post) that are just as interested in the Treo 600. Looking forward to when I can call T-Mobile or Handspring to get my Treo 600 before the Christmas rush.

Again, thanks so much for keeping us all posted with the 411.

    webit,

if you can, ask about availability on their web site?

will it close to the launch of orange or sprint.

what are the negatives of buying a unlocked phone rather than waiting for my carrier to officially sponsor it?

$$$. Eventually, you will be able to get the the 600 substantially cheaper through the carrier. Just look on the TC home page and you'll see how much cheaper the 180, 270 and 300 are through Amazon (w/ carrier sign up) as compared to buying directly from HS.

I happened to be at a meeting in Michigan yesterday where Donna Dubinsky spoke. She showed off her 600 and said that she had gotten a great data connection all the way from Detroit Metro Airport to Lansing. When I asked her when it would be available to buy she said that she was waiting for a call from Sprint to confirm the exact launch date. She said that HS was ready to go..and hers was working just fine. (it was a Sprint version).

Okay, Handspring has done their thing....now Sprint, it's your turn!
Good info, ltuvp! Way to be in the right place at the right time!

Hopefully Sprint doesn't **** us and decide to wait a little longer on the 600 release so that they can unload some of their Treo 300s which they have in inventory.

Of course, to do this would really stupid, given all of the competition out there.

    We'll see.
